Decent looking truck with 50k something miles.. 2nd owner.. I'm looking at getting a truck and a camper due to traveling for work and don't know if I should look more into this truck or just keep looking else where... Does anyone have any experience with this and how does the bank look at it with a loan?

Depends on why it was salvaged and who did the repairs to it.

I drove a truck with a salvage title in HS because my parents bought a total and brought it to my grandfather's body shop to repair for me. Never had any issues with it at all. It was hit on the side though and there was no frame or engine damage.

You better check with your insurance first, a lot of times they won't give coverage on a salvage vehicle. And good luck finding someone to finance it, it's going to be considered a bad risk investment.

No. Too much trouble to get it registered.

I've rebuilt a vehicle that I bought with salvage title. It was a car my son wrecked. The major damage was air bags deploying. That's what totaled it. I would but it would depend on the damage.

Most banks and savings and loans will NOT loan money on a vehicle with a salvaged title.

Hmm.. Didn't know the kind of questions to ask. As far as to why it was salvaged... He said he was the second owner and I asked if it had a clean car fax and he said he had a salvaged title and then I guess I didn't know where to go from and was just like hmm OK, well I appreciate it.. Guess I could have said aw damn man what happened??

Its going to be a pain to get it registered but if he's not spending a ton on the truck it may be worth it..

I have one. But, I knew the circumstances of its salvaging - tornado damage to the interior, not mechanical/frame related - and the person who did the salvaging (family). Plus, I don't really intend to trade it or sell it until it's dead. In any other circumstance I'd say, "no."

It depends.

I'd want to know the backstory without any confusion. Why it happened, what was corrected, who fixed it, etc.

Don't expect to finance this and resell in a few years.

Unless its a collectors car, you pay cash and drive until its worth nothing but salvage value.

My insurance co (GEICO) doesn't insure salvaged vehicles, or that's what they told me.

It won't be worth a shite when you try and sell it. Gonna have to basically give it away or scrap it.

Why was it considered salvaged?

A lot of good answers.. Appreciate the info.. Guess I will steer clear of this one then.. If anyone wants a good looking GMC 2011 with 50 something thousand miles extended cab with 5.3 2wd for 16,900. It's on Louisiana sportsman website..I thought it was a heck of a price compared to others I've seen..

My credit union loaned me money for mine. In fact, they told me it was undervalued. They did charge a higher interest rate for the loan. Registering it wasn't a problem.
