I had this happen to friends of mine. 3 of them were living together, they were all good friends. A few months into it one of them quit paying rent, it took them another 3 months to really confront the guy bc they were trying to save the friendship. The guy ended up just leaving all his shite there and not ever staying there. His dad eventually came and got his crap and the landlord just locked his bedroom with a dead bolt.

They never got their money back either

Lawyers of the OT. What are some options I have for a roommate that is not paying rent. He has not payed since September. The lease is in both of our names, what options do I have besides riding the lease out and suing him in civil court later?

Aren't you a liberal?

You can obviously afford to pay his half too, so you're just paying your fair share.

True. Still saving $200 from my last place even paying for this bum. Guess Ill just sue him in civil court after the lease is up.

WTF? You're roommate hasn't been paying since September and it's still not resolved in January? Sound like a push over

Find another place, stop paying there, and let him deal with the repercussions.

There being where you currently live.

The liberal/fair share comment swayed him.

They will put it on my credit. I cannot have that. I was to buy a place. That was the reason I wanted to get the RM in the first place.

Sounds like you have yourself a boyfriend

What does your roommate say every time rent is due?

He must have no respect for you or himself

Has he even committed to paying you back or are you assuming he will?

Sarcasm meter broke?

and also, if you're going to be paying it, at least kick him out. don't let him live there for free. tell him to GTFO and just pay it if it's that.

you're going to quickly resent the mooch if you keep paying his shite.

call your landlord before the next payment and tell him the problem. he can evict him on him not paying.
then you get a new room mate.

damn pussies now a days.

You can't be helped. Nut up and tell him to leave or you'll have him evicted by not paying his rent. Stop being his bitch and try to act like a grown man. Best of luck.

If he doesn't pay his rent they will both be evicted.

That's what I tell my tenants. Rent is due on the first. I give you until the 3rd to get it to me. I don't care how you pay me but the total is due all at once. Two seperate checks, one check, cash, money order it doesnt matter, but if I only have half then it's considered late as far as I'm concerned.
