Options for a roommate not paying rent?

Lawyers of the OT. What are some options I have for a roommate that is not paying rent. He has not payed since September. The lease is in both of our names, what options do I have besides riding the lease out and suing him in civil court later?

Yes. I do not want to get evicted. He got laid off like two weeks after we moved in. Claims he is not getting unemployment, but sure seems to be making the payments on his car.

You fricked yourself over paying his half, should have drawn the line there. I hope don't count on getting that money back ever. Best option at this point is kicking him out and finding a sub letter.
