LSU, Florida, Oklahoma, and other big Universities are now offering online degrees. Some programs are actually cheaper than being on campus.

As someone in the higher ed industry (for now at least), they're totally fine unless you're trying to go into higher ed.
If you're in Hattiesburg and are able to work out night classes at USM, I'm sure you would get a better education there, but in terms of pure job credentials, there's not a huge difference.
Of course, it also comes down to the person. Are you going to take the degree seriously and try to get an internship in the field/side job in the field and really try to learn? Or are you doing it because it sounds "cool" and don't plan on taking it seriously?

If you’re going to get a degree online, get it from a brick and mortar. Your degree won’t say it was online.

WGU is legit. In some states, your allowed to get state aid to attend there. I know a few teachers and nurses who got their degree there.

Friend of mine has a degree from WGU and he does well for himself.

I dated a girl who got an online degree from Kaplan University because she literally thought it was in Kaplan, Louisiana. Special.
She thought it was a plus that it was from Kaplan, LA?

Exactly. When she told me about it, I tried explaining to her it was just like Phoenix. She said if wasn't because it was local. Took her 6-7 years to finish and she's into a ton of debt. Last I heard she does Beachbody and Limelife.

WGU is one of the most respected online schools. They use competency based education standards and a model that many schools attempt to emulate.
As far as online courses, they are designed based on androgogical principles about adult learning and motivation. Like the fact most adults are working to support a family and need to take courses when they have the time rather than on a traditional show up on T, Th kind of schedule.

True. But UF, Georgetown and NYU are the top Tax Law LLM programs and they all offer online versions for people who have families or a current job and don't want to have to uproot for a year. That was more along the lines of the type of stuff I was referring to. But this is not an undergrad level, so I imagine that might be different. But assuming it is a legit school it is probably fine.

All schools offer online degrees now. The value of such degrees is debatable.
That's why you get your online degree at a traditional university. There is no asterick on our transcript that you earned it online. Only way they can tell is when you report on your resume that you were working in Texas while pursuing a degree in Virginia.

Degrees are absolutely worthless unless it’s something specialized like engineering or medical. I learned more during my first year on the job than I did in 4 years of college.

because its common sense and smart
if they are too frickin lazy to get out of bed, get dressed and drive/walk to school, then they are for damn sure too fricking lazy to show up for work and do anything
This is an extremely stupid and antiquated way of thinking

I hire engineers. I only consider legit on-campus degrees from schools with some pedigree.

The university of Iowa offers engineering degrees in the common modalities online. They are in no way easier, and require tremendous self motivation and discipline to complete compared to a on campus degree. Qualities that would be pretty valuable if I was hiring s engineer. I believe Georgia Tech, U. of Colorado, Purdue , and others offer similar online engineering programs.

I can tell you that UF was more expensive for the online classes. Now, it is supposed to be substantially less for online.

I agree but there's definitely a ceiling for someone who doesn't have a degree at most companies unless you happen to be tight with the owner or whatever.
It seems like it usually doesn't even matter what the degree is in.
