They used to throw potatoes and cabbage in the Irish Channel parade. It was wild as frick when I lived there in the late 90s early 2000s.

They still did a couple years ago. Did they ban them?
I wish Nola carnival parades threw food like in Mobile. I always enjoyed catching peanuts and cracker jacks.

Not sure. My neighbors had plywood over the 8 foot windows on the balcony and the potatoes still busted them up.

The Irish channel parade is like the MAMGA parade on mobile. You keep watching the float, even after it goes by. Otherwise you'll get cracked upside the head (though in mamga it's usual a box of Little Debbies or Moon Pies).

Going to be a shite show this year with the new temporary route.
After years on the normal route, I was starting to have the alcohol/flower situation all timed right. Guess I can throw all that out the window this year.

me, arseinclarse and many others do this parade every year. it is a shite show to say the least.
this year's route has me concerned it is too short, but I know they are working to see if it can be expanded to Jefferson and Mag instead of starting at Napoleon and Mag.
My advice is wake up early, pound liquor, lock it up with some immodium, and go after all the ladies you can....it's your mission.
Just make sure you have responsible people with you, or you can end up in the back of some stranger's pick up truck on Prytania, blacked out without your car keys, being questioned by police while your wife and kids are waiting for you at the end of the parade with her parents.....other than that, it's a great time.

Yep - we have "professionals" in our crew with careers / families / $$$ that lick thighs and place temporary tattoos on lovely ladies.....
It's amazing what goes down.
