I don't have a problem with it. It makes New Orleans a little classier.

This is a show for the All Star Game and Mardi Gras to avoid bad press. Shutting down bars at 3 would take an ordence from the city council. The major crime problem in the city isn't centered around bars.

The pedestrian only bourbon has been needed for years.

I know but a bunch of the articles say it has been discussed. Not sure how this will work during Mardi Gras.

First it was no smoking inside. Now shutting down bars at three... Come on if NYC can do it till 4 so can NOLA.

Landrieu really wants to make New Orleans into Cleveland as quick as he can.

Any idea when this rule may go into effect? Only asking because I have a NOLA wedding in April.

Why would this affect your plans?

Landrieu stopped just short of calling the 3 a.m. rule a curfew, but the move is designed to get people off of the streets. The bars will not have to close entirely, but patrons will not be able to walk in and out freely for a period of time that has not yet been specified.

So New Orleans does not do Anthony my to try and fix the issues regarding crime around the French Quarter and the city is blasted. Landrieu proposes something to actually try and fix some of the crime issues and he is blasted. I will say at least he came up with something.

He is punishing the victims because he can't figure out how to get the perps. Pretty much the same situation as when cops give people tickets for leaving their car running

In addition, all bars will be required to have security cameras that feed into a centralized NOPD command center, which is expected to be set up in the next four to six months, allowing police to monitor what is happening inside

Not quite sure if this is constitutional.

But what the heck do I know? Just a lawyer.

About 1% of the cameras that cost $90k a piece will work because they must buy from an "approved" rep and installed by an "approved" installer

Seems like they are going to the old "out of sight. Out of mind." Crime policy.

In looking at the articles again the bar issue has had the least amount of details attached. Without an ordeance this is unenforceable.

The cameras facing outward are a great idea and all of the other proposals.
