I bought a 13 LC with 16k in first Q of 15 for 58k. It was my dream car so I didn’t care about the cons. I figured If it can last 25 years in Australia outback or Africa, surely it can last 15 with my wife and kids. That is still being tested, probability is in question at this point. Lol. As far as tech it has everything We need. It has heated/cooled seats, easy nav interface, cooler in console for Road beers, Auto everything, some of the tech in it is just now showing up in other brands. Tech isn’t that important to me. What is important is that wife and kids ride around in a tank and will get them home wherever they go. It is extremely powerful When needed but yet can cruise around seamlesssly like it drives on rails on the interstate. It likes fuel 17-18 mph at 80 mph 12-14 in town and tires Last 40k but I think it’s worth having that weight in a collision. Last thing that’s awesome the resell is the best in the business. Zero issues. Mine is paid for has 80k and is worth 30-32k last I checked. Good luck with your choice both are good machines. I’d go with the Benz with rear captain chairs.

My wife drove both and picked the GLS. Also looked at Range Rover Sport and the Lexus

Women seem to always pick the option with that badge on it. I think it fulfills one of those, “when I grow up” boxes they always wanted to check.

It was my favorite too. If I had to rank them it was:

GLS
RR
X7
Lexus

My sister has the X7 and really likes it. Test drove it with her husband and it has some get up and go.

Would never get a range Rover. Love the look but repeatedly on the "don't get a RR from dealers and garages "

The BMW X7 looks like an incredible vehicle with an amazing interior.

I think the 2021 Yukon Denali is more my speed though....I guess my inner redneck just likes the styling, massive interior, and stout diesel engine.

My wife would probably prefer the BMW X7 though. That's definitely the better option over the Mercedes GLS IMO.

I have a minty ‘06. I can not say enough about it. If I could find a reputable Nav conversion I’d be all set. $2k to get the poverty spec dash components for a $20k car is a little rich for my blood.

The RS Q8 is impressive in person. Carbon bits everywhere.

I've never been a fan of the Escalade, but the new one is really impressive - especially with that interior and all of the technology.

That thing looks incredible. So much better than the updated Q7.

As a brand, BMW is now MUCH more reliable than Mercedes but the X7 still has some issues to iron out.

This is probably good advice.

I love BMW, but neither they nor Mercedes are known for being the kind of vehicle you want to keep around for very long. These are leases. Not buys.

No 3rd row though. My wife has a loaded Q8 and it’s nice. I don’t think the RS is different enough for 50k more though. I wish they would have widened the fenders. And at $138k I’m buying a decent suv for her and looking at a used R8 or GT3 for myself lol.

There’re more than a couple of R8s at the mobile dealership, the one in the showroom is unreal.

I grew up on Series trucks and Range Rover Classics, but I don’t like the vehicles they make now.

With that said, if you’re buying one, I would actually go through the dealer. Especially if you’re looking at a used model. They only resell vehicles that were well taken car of, they’ll recondition them prior to sale, and you can take advantage of the dealers good will program if something unusual happens. You’re better protected going through the dealer.

I love my X7 but the only issue that I have is the same one I have had with my previous x5's - the air conditioner is just not good - it takes time to get cool - the heater rocks - The new electronics of the x7 and interface is incredible - the ride is really great too

Does the X7 not have remote start?

Wife's X3 AC seems fine to me. I set it at Auto everything and set to 68 degrees and it works great IMO.
