In all fairness, most of them probably aren't big on golf to begin with

Now Tiger can go play with some real clubs again, like some Mizuno's.

As a golfer, this is sad news to me. I want the game to grow and Nike could have been a part of that.

I don't want to see golf companies getting out of the club business.

All that said, the junior golfers are not using Nike clubs. Juniors are using USKidsCkibs, Ping....then once the kids hit 13 or so they are moving to Titleist, Taylor Made and some Callaway.

Taylor Made was the main sponsor for AJGA not too long ago - their presence was impressive - and Taylor Made sponsors kids in the top 100 of thr Polo rankings - those kids remain loyal.

Nike getting out of golf equipment

I am a die hard Ping guy, but I play a few of Nike's clubs because of just how good they are for the price that I got them for. I sold my scotty and got a Nike Method Mod and really dig the combination of milled 303 face with a little bit of rzn insert to help with speed consistency and I got it for $60. Might try to scoop up another one for the closet. Also, the engage wedges are phenomenal for any of you guys that tend to chunk wedge shots, especially around the green. They're RZN Platinum golf ball is also just as good as the Pro V. I hit them side by side and had a hard time telling the difference. This is sad news as I like some of their stuff.

Also read somewhere that they might be buying Taylormade, who actually have pro's worth a shite. I think they could do really well if they'd slow down the production cycle of Taylormade a bit to give more value to the club. Hard to buy TM if they drop to half off 4 weeks later.

Golf has always had an issue with the younger generation but saw a day in the sun with Tiger. The challenge for the game will be converting millennials into golfers as they age.

Even so, Nike's brand doesn't fit with a middle-aged businessman or retiree's hobby.

Millennials are too busy playing Pokémon Go to get into a game that requires skill and nitro.

Not true at all. When Nike signed Tiger, they didn't have a forging factory so they sent the specs off to Katsuhiro Miura to do it for them. Since then, they've done everything theirselves. Nike has made some of the best forged irons in golf for the last 7-8 years
