Nike made hundreds of millions on golf. The game is shrinking, and they're getting out before it does.

Adidas wants to unload Taylormade for the same reason

somehow you and I are now in violent agreement, cutting their losses and getting out before its gets worse otherwise nike would stay in the game...

Over the past several years golf has become less and less popular. There was something about this on 60mins I think, but in the segment it showed how golf courses were trying to create ways to make the game faster because part of the reason it is not as popular is because this generation of young adults are not interested in playing a game that takes as long as golf takes so its probably a move by nike that reflects the future of the game.

Can anyone imagine Tiger NOT wearing Nike?

I'm sure he'll find something to wear in which to miss the cut.

What? Too soon?

Yep, it was the Nike clubs and not the club between his legs that led to his decline.

I don't think that's even part of the reason. Maybe for a few select individuals with bad ADD.

More people played golf 15 years ago when they had the disposable income to do so because the economy was better. That's the main reason.

Golf is going down hill bc people refuse to play it down, more guys are taking back 9 mulligans, hell some are bitching about missing the first 10 fairways and moving it from the rough back to the fairway......

It's not for the poor, when Trump gets elected the only way Democrats are getting on the course is with a weedeater or push mower

The economy is a big part as well, there have been many golf courses around the country that has shut down over the past several years.. There are also golf courses who are trying to stay open by creating more of a mini-golf type courses or frisbee golf courses.
