They are pushing Holiday prices on rates? Not Mardi Gras, but near to "Saints are in town playing an average team" high?

Whats going on? I assume it is a convention that weekend or multiple conventions? Any local insight? I am seeing $300-400 a night rates for normal rooms. Not the Monteleone, Omni, Marriots of the Quarter.

A Little insight?

And it's well known that swine veteranarians are big spenders.

Major convention time and probably at least 30 weddings.

Rock and roll marathon is that weekend. My wife is running it. It usually attracts a large crowd.

The only options are to try and see if the prices are more favorable to the budget in Metairie or look on airbandb.

It's criminal how much some of these hotels charge on certain weeks of the year. If you're okay with staying in someone's house check out Airbnb.

Hell you could stay today through Wednesday for cheaper than that weekend.

Lately if I want to party in New Orleans I'll go during the week

Try the French Quarter Guest Houses, Le Richelieu, or just Priceline 4* 1/4 hotel for a cheap price. You'll get the Marriott most likely.

A few weeks ago I was looking for a room near the Quarter on Feb 15th (Monday night), couldn't find anything under $300. No clue why everything is so expensive, ended up finding a few rooms @ Hotel Villa Conventa for $105/night

Possibility of booking The Maritime?

Apparently it LOOKS cool. Old historic building that's been remodeled to condos. Carondelet (sp?) one block off canal. A few years ago that place would be sketchy. Not terrible but sketchy heading back to the room at night. How is it now?

Anybody have info on that property and location.

I'm guessing the high prices are because no one wants to visit this city any more.

If you have transportation and dont mind something different try Prytania Oaks. No frills but cheap clean rooms and free parking when rates in the Quarter are high.
