I think it's very possible...especially if this district gets their own schools.

That's where the bulk of the remaining developable land exists in southern East Baton Rouge. It's adjacent to the new LSU south campus, and less than 15 minutes from the main campus.

You noticed they took out two blocks of those shitty 4-plexes to build that sewer plant?

I live in the proposed new city. While I am not opposed to a new city and a new school district as someone who has already made the decision to send my kids to Catholic school I have questions on how this new city will impact my property and sales taxes.

I know they said fire and other services will be contracted out, but I wonder what services the new city will try to establish and again how it will effect my taxes.

Also, what about a police department. I may be wrong but isn't Centrel still without a police department and relies sole on East Baton Rouge Sheriff. Would this new city also rely only on EBRPD?

My understanding is that EBRSO covers the area more often than BRPD anyway, at least with regards to dispatched calls.

BRPD's four districts only cover the annexed city of Baton Rouge, not the large swaths of unincorporated EBR Parish.

EBRPD already patrols this district now.

I guess I am moving to the 70810 with perfect timing

I own property in the 70810 zip code. I rent it out to 3 girls who go to LSU. I don't think this will go anywhere anytime soon. It's just like the South BR school district idea. It would probably mean higher taxes etc. I wouldnt vote for it.

I don't think that city is as white as it thinks it is. Gardere and Staring are in there as are some other minoraty majority neighborhoods. However, most of the high schools should be remarkably better in St. George. However, they would be much better off (and therefor have much more trouble trying to get the plan approved) if they did not include Gardere, St. Jean Apts, and Staring in their proposed city limits.

There's only one HS in the proposed area.

St George will never happen but if it does it will already have it's first projects, St Jean Apts and that nice trashy area behind the old uncle o's on Harrels Ferry.

They'll build more. You just stated one of the main reasons they wanted their own school district.

It already does. No BRPD in the unincorporated area now.

This is a no brainer for anyone that lives in the proposed city limits.

Baton Rouge is steadily becoming a real shite hole as more and more people flee the parish to the outlying parishes.

The number one reason people are fleeing is the schools.

Having our own school district will get our schools out of the disaster that is the EBRP school district and make them more competitive.

Sign me up.

Joshua L. Hoffpauir
Dustin Yates

Who are these people? What is known of their backgrounds?

I like the idea.

That's a shame.

I also own property in the district yet live outside it. I would vote for it with the quickness.
