A few summers ago I had to get a haircut in a little podunk town. I told the girl what I wanted (mini frat swoop/young republican) and I left with essentially a NIH and I rocked the frick out of it.

It's whatever length you want on top with a bald fade. (as in it faded to bald at the bottom from the length of the top)

While living in New Iberia 15 years ago, I didn't realize I had a NIH. Now, I look back at my high school yearbook and see a bunch of Shitty haircuts.

This haircut is pretty common all over the US, at least in coastal cities. Length on top with a fade on the sides and back is not exactly a groundbreaking style
