LOL, ok, I believe you ! That's a black cab company with connections at City Hall. One of the worst if not THE worst in the area.

You couldn't have picked a worse cab company even if you tried.

They were next in line at the cab stand. So I really didn't have a choice. Driver was fine. Just didn't seem to care that we had to divert from the interstate for 10 min.

The last cab I took in new Orleans was terrible. Flight landed at 11pm so I was tired and ready to get to hotel. Asked when I got picked up if he took credit cards, he says "yes yes" and waves me in.

Get to the French Quarter and pull out the card and he looks at it and says "you have cash?". I didn't so said no I only have the card. He acts all angry and says "I'll try but this hasn't worked all night." He fumbles around with the machine for like 5 minutes and it finally goes through and pops up on the back screen. I sign with the tip and go to leave but he says I can't until I sign the receipt. As I said, I'm already tired and pissed and just want to go check in. He fumbles around with the machine and it's all jammed and won't print. I watch him work on it for another few mins and just tell him I'm going in and can't wait any longer.

He says he can't confirm the payment went through and I said he'll have to take that up with the company and just go check in. I checked the account after and it did go through.

Last trip I took I used only Uber and every car was quick, clean and everything was so fast and easy

Yep, they are all trying that shite because they want the cash. They are PISSED at the city for trying to clean their acts up.

Uber was terrible when I was in New York City. Every time I was ready to request a car I would get 3.2 X times normal fare rate or 4.5 X times normal fare rate. They always jacked up the price to at least 2 times the normal rate. Just a total rip off. Cab was way cheaper and easier to flag down.

NOLA taxis are so gross. I tried Lyft in Memphis this past weekend and get this...no surge pricing to drop off or pick up at fedex forum for the grizzlies game!

I was picked up on Tchoup Saturday night by a cab. Of course he would only take cash which luckily I had. Can't see why anyone would be against Uber in the city.

Only cab unions and the politicians on the take from cab unions are against uber.

New York City.

Might be the only city where cabs are a great option.

I can't wait for NOLA to get the regular Uber service. I know they need to figure out who to pay off and all of that good stuff, but it's going to happen.

I think so too. My friends have said nothing but great things about Uber. I'm going to Austin this weekend. Will give it another try.

LOL, Cabbies are MAD as hell at the city now because all cabs have to be no older than 7 years old, accept Credit, have GPS and some other stuff I can't remember. They picketed City hall for months, even tried to shut down traffic downtown. The city is ALL OVER THAN.

Someone who know what up

And Uber is cheaper if nothing is going on. And how often is nothing going on in NOLA ? That surge price gouge pricing will make a ride to the airport during Mardi Gras $500.

Problem with Nola cabs are they are cheating the system, telling riders their credit machines are not working, that's BS. And some companies are still putting shite cabs on the street. If they just played by the rules, they would make more money and keep uber out. As long as they try and lie and cheat the system, customers are going to look for other options. FACT.

I used Uber all around San Fran and it is incredible. I would say a minimum of 5x better than riding in a cab. Soon enough UberX will come to New Orleans and it will be a game changer. The amount of drivers will sky rocket and cabbies will feel the wrath. The corrupt politicians and unions can only keep them out for so long.

I wouldn't count on it happening any time soon. Are you from Nola and how old are you? BTW, I wish it would happen.
