My wife likes football, LSU, and the Saints, but does not sit down and watch every play of every game. But she does know that I do. I established this very very early and she never gives me a hard about it.

How needy are you?

I just give my wife my credit card and tell her to go shopping. It works for me.

So she usually doesn't have the credit card? I guess you do all the grocery shopping? Sounds manly. Don't forget the skim milk.

If you want to watch football, watch football. Don't let her (nor should she let you) dictate what you can and can't do. It can be toxic to your relationship.

When my kids were young, my wife was the same way. Hell on my Wedding night, the Saints played the Patriots in New England at a time when Football wasn't really televised as much (1988). We were stationed at Fort Devens in Mass and that was my first opportunity to watch the Saints and this day was set up long before I knew of the game. Needless to say, I still hear about that night. But since my kids are all older and are diehard LSU and almost Saints fans, my wife is really into it. Get her interested in the sport.

Guys, enough with the football. How can we help this person teach better?

Do what I do. Get up early, get all the honey dos done, then enjoy the day the way you see fit. My future wife doesn't watch football, but as long as I'm handling my end of the chores, she's all good with me watching it.

If you watch TV on Saturdays and Sundays, when do you go out and do anything? Is watching football that important to you?

Now that you're married: Happy wife, happy life.

Can't one of y'all go in another room? Does she not have any friends to do stuff with on the weekend? Sounds like you didn't set the precedent before you got married.

One of my friends married a girl with zero interest in football and basically sports in general (she's from the east coast and went to a small liberal arts school). That being said, on Saturdays she lets him crack out to football while she does her own thing. They accept each others differences and don't try to change each other because they knew what they were getting into before they got married.

I don't know why you would ask her or want her to sit in the room with you if you know she doesn't like it?

Give and take.

Do something with her that you don't really enjoy in exchange for her watching football with you.
