Man that's pretty fricking shitty. I'm a GC doing side flood work. I've heard so many shitty stories from people.

It isn't. But the bitch inspector who came out to my house deserves arse cancer and large gauge needles in her fricking eyeballs. She was five hours late to my appointment because she got kicked out of her hotel room that morning and her and 6 other inspectors had to find another hotel. She showed up at my house pissed at the world and transferred all that anger onto me and my wife who were 14 days removed from losing nearly everything we own. I wasn't sympathetic and I wasn't taking her shite. Told her to get the frick out of my wrecked house and off my fricked up property. Reported her behavior at the FEMA camp in Central and requested another inspector. And this is no shite. She kicked at my LEASHED dog when he walked towards her on the way out. Neighbors asked her name and she was the one scheduled for their inspection as well. They went to the same FEMA camp in Central and requested a different inspector before she showed up to their house. Insensitive and condescending count. I wasn't looking for sympathy or compassion but she could have simply been professional and I would have been OK with it. To top it off, bitch runs to get in the front of the line to get cold water and her RED CROSS box lunch before all my neighbors who had been working their asses off gutting their homes and working in their yards all morning. Classless bitch.
Oh, and I got nothing as well. But that was pretty much inevitable anyway as I had flood insurance for dwelling. I am appealing once the letter arrives and I've applied for SBA loan. Hope your parents fight the denial and get some help

Man I hate this for everyone that has had shitty luck with inspectors/FEMA in general. My inspector couldn't have been any more nice, it's a shame there's only a few it seems that realize what the people they are nearing with are going through.
Doesn't mean shite I know, but I hope everything works out for all ya'll with bad experiences.

ETA, after Katrina, my homeowner's adjuster wrote me up for 1/2 of a roof. said the wind was only blowing one way.

THey had the papers to show ownership. Inspector checked the wrong box as I read the op.

My parents got $1456 from FEMA. Turns out they didn't have flood insurance, no comp on the car and they lost everything. My mom died of a heart attack 16 days after the flood.
I will be appealing to FEMA on behalf of my dad.

All we had was a proof of insurance, an electric bill & mortgage statements and it was approved.
