14% is significant.
Average raise is 3%. People that don't move every 2 years are hurting themselves financially.

She probably read your post history.
Women want to work for strong men.

If she were that important to you then you would have come up with the money. You tried to play tight arse as far as a counter offer and she wasn't bluffing.

If you wanted her to stay you’d have given her 15%.

Need pics to decide whether to commiserate or congratulate.

It’s unfortunate but that’s the way of it. Maybe offer her more paid time off or schedule flexibility.

From now on I am treating everyone as chattel.
All that does is make employees go from 14 years to 14 weeks. This day and age it’s hard to hold on to good employees. People bounce around a lot these days.

It's probably more to do with the lack of review and COL raises over the past decade

Basically a 14% raise. I could probably come up with something to offer her, but I can't match it.
Can't match 14%? You ain't trying. You're probably going to pay the next one more than that anyway.

It’s not like the price of nearly everything has increased as of late …

She did the right thing considering how you're reacting.

Why haven't you?
It's not always about money, and sometimes higher pay isn't worth it.

Just roll with it. I’m sure it’s not personal. That’s a nice raise for anyone.

That she left for that little of a raise and didn't give you the chance to match likely means she didn't like working for you or had some other issue with her work environment.

$2/hr equates to $80/wk pretax and what $56/wk post tax I guess that would help pay for groceries or put a tank of gas in her car.
You couldn’t figure out a way to get her $50/wk?
