I will put you in touch with my assistant's assistant's under-assistant's under-assistant in training and perhaps you can strike a fair deal.

You're probably right. I've been working at smaller business my last 2 jobs and am moving back into a more corporate type place in a few weeks. I've gotten a little glimpse of the hiring market right now looking for an A/R person.

More money at another firm. Not dramatic life changing money. Basically a 14% raise. I could probably come up with something to offer her, but I can't match it.

You run a firm but can't match a 14% raise on one assistant?

Next week he's going to hit us with "Nobody wants to work anymore!" when he really means "Nobody wants to work for what I'm willing to pay"

You expect her to stay for 14% less pay than what she could make elsewhere just because of her relationship with you?

Seriously?

Bruh, her life and family come before you. Its foolish to think that people at work care more about their employer than their own family's financial well being.

Stop being cheap.
Have you bought groceries lately that 14% bump sure could help her out.

It's not personal is business

The fact she stayed at one job for 14 years is proof she’s not a millennial.

Will they be doing the same thing? I love what I do and where I am but I’m starting to look around a little just because I’m ready for something different. New challenges. Just tired of doing the same things.

Us “boomers” you talk so bad about grew up in the Great Depression and learned how to get by with less. You know, back in the day when people helped each other and didn’t look at their phones on the tick tack all day

I tend to give them a pass. My parents still think 50k is a good salary

You done screwed up.

Do you give her a cola raise every year?

Waffle house in my podunk town is advertising about $20/hr.

My son is making between $20-$40/hr at an Outback Steakhouse in yuppyville.

You aren't going to be able to hire competent long term employees at the rate she was asking.

14% of how much? Either way, that’s a pretty good bump for most people. Where is she going?

That 14% is relative

Is she making $20k a year or $80k

If you paid her $30K annually and she leaves for a 14% raise then she'll make another.. $350 per month

All I have to add this to this convo boomer
