I lived in LA for two years right out of school. Doesn't bother me that much and I'm fine working around it. Wake up early, go to the gym after work, usually a pretty good strategy....

I do realize some people can't stand it though so I appreciate the heads up.

west side is the best side.

waze is your friend.

i live in franlin and work downtown.

i dont ever deal with traffic so haters gonna hate.

you'll be going the OPPOSITE direction anyway if you live downtown and work in Franklin so frick the haters.

Maybe not a decade but the past 5 years at the very minimum. You can't deny that.

Also, why don't you like Smyrna?

i like being either in the heart of things downtown or in the country surrounded by BEAUTIFUL houses & winding roads, hence Franklin/west side of nashville.

i just don't see the appeal going east..

going to love it. Being 27 and single and employed is perfect.

This. Lived there for a few years in my 20s before going to graduate school. It was great.

I lived in Sylvan Park, which is off west end, 5 minutes from the Village, 5-10 from down town and walking distance to Centenial Park.

It's a great little neighborhood hidden off of Weat End. I'd highly recommend.

Soulard. Work Downtown so it was the safest bet overall.

Itap, McGurk's/Molly's (during the day), 1860s are my spots in the neighborhood.

I do a lot of Tower Grove spots too, they have great bars there, TG Pub, The Royale.

I've got friends in the CWE so West End Pub and the Juniper are regulars and a few bars in Clayton although I don't like driving out there that much.

Downtown STL totally sucks now besides Tiny Bar. Really a shame as apparently they were turning things around a couple years back. The Rams going seems like a nail in the coffin for Wash Ave.

I will miss the BBQ here. It's insanely underrated.

CAD, thanks for all the info man.

I didn't see Hillsboro on your list. Should I avoid? The spot is on Blakemore and 23rd if that makes a difference...

I go to Bridge regularly and always want to stop in at Tiny Bar but haven't been yet. I like The Royale quite a bit too. I don't really hit Soulard all that much. I do like McGuirks though.

Before you leave, hit up the Gramophone in the Grove. Awesome sandwiches, 20 taps of local craft.

You couldn't be any closer to campus without living on campus.

no that was just off the top of my head..i'm more giving you 'geographical areas' than a hard list of neighborhoods.

hillsboro is great...in fact woodbine (if you're feeling a little edgy) is up-and-coming just north of crieve hall but again...like east nashville..housing prices have skyrocketed.

blakemore/23rd is the heart of everything. you can walk to LSU/vandy games.

Will do man. Also haven't been to Bridge, wasn't trying to bash, but overall DT leaves a lot to be desired. And is ghetto as hell around just about any corner.

I will say TONS of cool shite is popping up all over South City. My friend crew is dissolving here and I have a solid core in Nashville so its making sense. Part of my is a bit sad to go, STL certainly has some cool shite going on. Food scene is very underrated here.

If I were staying I'd probably move to Benton Park, Shaw or Tower Grove. Some spots are a little sketch but will be great in 5-10 years I think.

I found a pretty great re-hab in Soulard though and had to pull the trigger quick. I'm pretty far towards the brewery so its more like Benton Park in my eyes anyway.

I was paying about $600 a month to live in an upstairs apartment. By the time I left, the corner building across the street was bought, torn down, a new house built (about the same size 1.5 floors) and sold for a hair over $500,000. Couldn't believe it.

I'd love to mo e back some day--New Orleans is great, and I'd be happy to stay here, but depending on any opportunities in my career, I'd move back in a second.
