This. Lived there for a few years in my 20s before going to graduate school. It was great.
I lived in Sylvan Park, which is off west end, 5 minutes from the Village, 5-10 from down town and walking distance to Centenial Park.
It's a great little neighborhood hidden off of Weat End. I'd highly recommend.
And is $270 a sq ft

I can't believe how bad it's gotten.
It's because of the 5 year construction that is still on-going that CAD thinks I'm exaggerating about.

its fricking vandy.
we tailgated before the LSU game 2 blocks away and we were the only tailgate going until like 2pm that day.
iow, they roll the sidewalks up at 10pm around here and there might be a little action in midtown with winners/losers & red door but that's about it.

Isn't Mars moving out to 840 very soon? If so, I'd strongly advise against living in the city center. Franklin or Brentwood would be the place to be.

Just shows how old I'm getting. I'm more worried about traffic, noisy neighbors and my dog shitting on concrete.

STL is super underrated but way too many lowest common denominators. I had an interesting trip on the Metro from the airport.

Bet I can beat that. My car got stolen. And was never found..
I also know two other people that had cars stolen. Almost glad I didn't get mine back based on the smells and vibes they could feel inside theirs after recovery.

Preciate all the posts, looking forward to getting set up there.

I've only visited STL and wasn't bothered by many thugs outside of the metro. No stolen cars for my friends but some broken windows in the Central West End (no crime for my friends in Clayton).
Barnes would probably be considered the best hospital in the country if it weren't in STL.

Agree 100%. You're pretty good in most areas, but the two block rule applies almost everywhere. Even just North of Delmar/Clayton/U City can be super ghetto.
I'm just not into the Clayton scene, its nice and safe but one of the yuppiest/snooty/midwesty places I've ever been. I get that some people like/are like that but it's just not for me.
For having as many issues as STL does, you'd think the place was freaking Beverley Hills the way a lot of Clayton people are. It's super strange.

Well you would be driving against the heavy traffic. I know a guy that lives in East Nashville and works in Symrna.

Move to Franklin when you get married and start popping out kids. My wife almost got a job there and we checked out the place over a holiday. Nicest town I've been too in a while. Fortunately, she was offered a promotion where she is now and we stayed as it is closer to our family in Texas and Louisiana and is a solid town as well. If we had to move, Nashville/Franklin is at the top of our list.
