When I was 15 or so, I was flying by myself back to Shreveport from Boston. Some big snowstorm had swept through the Midwest and fricked up my whole connection schedule. Finally got to dallas around 9:00 that night (working on 12 hours of travel at that point). Had to go on standby for the last flight to Shreveport that night. Name was called, got on the plane in the very front seat next to the door. Door closes, door reopens, and I am asked to get back off the plane. Why you ask?
THEY CLAIMED THE PLANE WAS OVERLOADED WITH MY 130 LB arse ON THE PLANE!!!
There were more than few rather gargantuan people on this damned plane, but they got me off the plane instead. I did end up getting the presidential suite at the double tree that night for free, but it was still irritating as shite to miss a flight I was sitting on.

This wasn't really ridiculous but it was annoying as hell. I was in Vegas during the middle of summer (won't ever do that again). My departing flight was cancelled because it was too hot for the plane to take off. I can understand that, when the air is hot and dry, planes don't have as much lift as they normally do. What made it annoying was that right after they cancelled the flight, a bunch of people got on the same exact plane and flew to San Diego.

I was once told by a gate agent that the inbound flight had crashed and there was no replacement aircraft. This was on a Chinese domestic flight.
