Ferriday, Louisiana is the correct answer.

Well maybe not, most of the Appalachian region in KY is straight up tragic. Spent a couple weeks there and those peeps go without things like electricity and plumbing.

Now that I think about it, Jackson is pretty bleek because of how hard they try.

Also I'm sure there are enormous swaths of Alabamy under the reign of terroristically incestuous enclaves which modern cartographers have yet to nominate.

Depends on how you define depressing. Some are depressing visually. Some emotionally. Some spiritually. Some economically. Some because of population or demographics. There are a host of any or some or all of the above sprinkled liberally all over SEC territory. It would be hard to pick the worst of the worst.

Friar's Point, MS. A lot of the towns mentioned in here don't even begin to come close.

Now you are getting close to home.

Helena-West Helena AR is up there for being a place that had some things going on 40 years ago but is turning into a ghost town now.

The casino in Lula MS is one of the most depressing anywhere too.

Friars Point/Jonestown/Tchula, take your pick

As far as MS goes, the Memphis suburbs are also nice but I wouldn't live there.

Does Ferriday suck worse now than it did about 35 years ago? I hear it's pretty bad nowadays.

If you have never been to Albany Ga, count yourself lucky. It's a complete shithole.

Mayo, FL.

You can smell the pig shite for miles. Which is a shame, because there are some beautiful Springs in the area.

Tossup between Myrtle, MS and Starkville. Starkville edges out the great metropolis of Myrtle because well... it's Starkville.

El Dorado, Arkansas.

If you could give the United States a suppository, El Dorado is where you would stick it.

Baton Rouge, LA. I saw a report that the people there are some of the most miserable in the country.

only North BR fools are at home to answer dumb surveys via telephone. Its like west Memphis or east st Louis answering for their whole populations.

College Station and its no competition. Honestly, the worst place in the state of TX.

Lol pls. I've driven through Ferriday and it looks like a charming southern town in comparison to the towns I see in Mississippi

Ferriday has character - if anything, Vidalia is more depressing.

Fletcher Cox really screws up the income statistics for Yazoo City. Based on his earnings Yazoo City may be one of the wealthiest towns in the state.

In 2016 Fletcher Cox signed a 6 year, $102,600,000 contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, including a $26,000,000 signing bonus, $63,299,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $17,100,000.
