In a virtual tie between Jonestown, Mississippi and Ranger Texas, I have to go with Ranger because of the tumbleweeds.

Find the most depressing town in Texas and I'll tell you to hold my beer while the State of Mississippi shows you how it's done.

Baton Rouge, LA.

I saw a report that the people there are some of the most miserable in the country.

Apopka, FL. 1988. What a shithole then. It's been absorbed by Orlando sprawl since then.

I've been all over SEC country, a lot of it on old back roads that wind through the small towns. None are more depressing to me than to see what's become of Altoona, Alabama.

Calling it trashy is an insult to trashy towns, like Leesville, LA.

Tulia, Texas. Not close for me. Spent a week there in 99.

Non Texas(it's hard to find one worse than about 10 texas towns), I'll go with Bude, MS.

Waco Texas was bad.

I've been through a couple shite holes in FL and SC as well but can't recall the names.

Yazoo sucks. Super poor. Lots of crime. I'd rather live there than Tchula, tho.

Amarillo is up there.

Bogalusa, a lot of the Mississippi Delta region.

Greenville also sucks, but at least you have people. Tchula barely has 2,000 and they are almost all in poverty.
