Compare the amount spent per student in the A schools and the F schools. The F schools get more. How are they not receiving equal?

They aren't equal. The poo schools apparently get almost 20% more funding. But they need more money to solve this problem.

Agree. They think basic needs is an iPad for each student, new facilities, experienced teachers with advanced degrees, but not wanting the hassle of creating their own school district, having excessive property tax, and basic discipline when at school.

Exactly. Judging by that website, they schools that received the most funding were the ones doing the worst.

How they hell aren't they equal?

The schools doing the best are apparently not receiving equal funding.

The SPLC notes that all of the 19 Mississippi school districts rated “F” have overwhelmingly black student bodies, while the state’s five highest-performing school districts are majority white.

HEY! Must be the money!

Yeah. Loooking at Antonio Moss's link, students in the JPS system receive over $9,000.00 per student. That is plenty.

You're not going to get private school quality, but it's more than enough.

They receive more than the students in Ocean Springs, which has some of the best performing schools in the entire state.

Exactly. The point of most of the opposition is that it isn't a failure in funding, but a failure in execution. Those schools receive plenty of funding. Their usage of it is absolutely abysmal.

Yep, but apparently opposing giving them more money is racist and blacks are getting "unequal" education.

Texas does too. Robin Hood.

I'd bet Mississippi has some form of this too.

You're not going to turn around the students in that community overnight. Not with the culture/family life they have.

It's kind of like animals in the wild. Four cubs are born but only one cub makes it out.

I think the average money spent per student is more than enough. Like Scruffy said, their execution and probably allocation to the administration is what's the problem.

But I think the fricking buildings need to be fixed.

Yep. And not getting any better. Moved from there years ago. Still have a few friends there but they are stuck until their kids graduate and then they will leave too. Cathedral was a great school
.

Cathedral is a fine example, excellent education for less than 1/2 the money NASD spends per pupil in older facilities, yet the only answer is to give the public school system more money.

But they do receive equal funding. It appears that the school district chooses to spend that money very poorly and has allowed the infrastructure to erode away

Need to hire qualified employees that don't steal supplies and equipment is a start. But God forbid certain people don't get hired because they are not qualified. It's just a sinking ship in areas of Mississippi

Natchez has a mayor now that will push education but I doubt it will help.

What is so ridiculous about ensuring that schools in poor and rural areas receive equal funding, equal building upkeep, and equal supplies?

What is so ridiculous about actually looking at the legit numbers and realizing that there is no correlation between expenditure per student and outcomes....but that would defeat your agenda

Read first on funding per student per county before making a fool of yourself

In MS the school board has become an employment service for homies vs what the mission is. Look at the admin dollars for all the f schools. At least half of their budget are admin bloat. Adams spends like 4 or 5k on the student of the actual 11k they receive per student. And they wanted a tax increase?? And look at their salaries. Absurd.
