TOBS last forever. I got some 6 months ago and still have barely made a dent in it.

I love it.

But I also have Avocado and almond. Almond smells best by far. Smells like a croissant.

Cheap 4 blade razor , no shaving cream just hot water. No aftershave . Use clippers sans guard for my head.

Smelled it yesterday. Smell before you buy. Smells like an old lady to me. They also make a grapefruit. It was awful to me as well. Everything bad about a grapefruit is what it smelled like.

Merkur DE 34 razor with Feather blades. Badger Brush, bowl, Proraso. I change it all up to try new things.

One thing I have found an appreciation of is a few old school products that are great. Club Man by Pinaud aftershave is fantastic and smells like my pricer Royall Musk - girls love it. Love the Royall line of aftershaves as well as West Indies Lime Lotion during the summer. Brylcreem has a manly smell in your hair and works great IMO.
I also like wearing Creed Green Irish Tweed but do't discount some of the older stuff.

Still looking for some type of pre-shave balm/cream that doesn't leave my neck with red bumps

sometimes it's irritation from a collar. Do you wear starched collars? Try no starch and see....

Those multiblades are shite. I would suggest switching to a safety razor.

Some reviews say they are the best. Have to be using the better ones though. Fusion and Mach 3 seem to be tops. The high end manufacturers are making $100-200 handles for these blades.

The sum of what I read is that you need a lot of practice to get with a DE razor the closeness that a cartridge gets. I may switch one day but it needs to be when I am ready for the learning curve. And the bloodbath.

I appreciate the heads up. Everything I buy is ordered online and based off the reviews of others. Have you smelled the lemon or the proraso eucalyptus? I like eucalyptus (in general) for sinus drainage it's great stuff.

By shave #5, you'll be about on par. I've nicked myself, but I've never really cut myself. I've gotten myself way worse with a cartridge than with a DE on a safety handle. Perhaps it's because I was careless with a cartridge (shave in the shower, no mirror, etc) and know to be careful with a safety. And as far as time, it really only takes me about 5 minutes to shave (vs 2 minutes with a cartridge). Yes. That is 2.5 times as long. But 3 minutes is also just 3 minutes. For some, that's too much. For me, not so much, thus the switch.

Go to Bath and Body Works. CO Bigelowe green tube is made by Proraso. Unless someone on here knows otherwise, all I have read is that its the same thing.

As for lemon? No. Never smelled.

If I can get my hands on one of my Dad's or grandpaw's old one I would try. Dad laughs at the notion. But he was using barbasol and 1970's caliber blades. I don't think Feather, Astra, and Merkur were as available if existed.

I checked my Amazon orders. From 10/10 to today, this is how much TOBS Sandalwood I have left (finger indenting to bottom to attempt to demonstrate depth. Still have tons on the sides). So for those not familiar with this stuff, zoom in and you can see bristle strokes. You really only take about the depth of those small ridges for each shave.

I'll check that out. Thanks

$18 on Prime. if I was starting today, i would go with that instead of the $45 handle I bought.

an understandable drawback. But think of this: in the 50s, this was how people shaves. They shaved everyday, probably starting around the age of 13-15. Are you as capable as a 15 year old from 60 years ago? I like to think I am.

Side note- just checked. From time out of the shower ( which i put my pre-shave oil on before I get out of the shower, but it's a few seconds) to washing my hands after putting on after shave just now was 8:33. That's running water, making a lather, applying lather x3, making passes x3, cleaning the brush, mug, razor, and sink, and then dabbing off the face with a towel before applying aftershave and washing hands. I did not rush. I have zero bleeding spots. I don't think it's all that much longer than a cartridge, which (for me) were prone to getting clogged and take longer to rinse.

I was the same way, then I switched to a safety razor setup (with premium cream applied with a brush). Now I actually look forward to shaving. It changed everything for me

+1

I am using a Edwin Jagger safety razor paired with a Gillette Silver Blue blade and Prorasso soap applied with a badger brush.

I have an assortment of aftershaves, right now I am into the old barber shop smell's of when I was a kid. My two favorites are Pinaud clubman and Pinaud vanilla with Old Spice every now and then. If I want to use a more modern scent, my go to is Speick.

Use a cheap razor with barbasol cream. Not fancy, but it works.

After shave....just am about to finish some Polo Black aftershave, but also have some stuff I had gotten from Bath and Body Works (it's not too bad). Might check out sandalwood.

You just have to go slow and get the angle of the blade right. Get a styptic pencil just in case

I believe that piece of equipment should have no expense spared.

The Feather razor "Doc" I believe linked looks like a winner but I still have a way to go.
