I've used a safety razor for a long time; it's a 40's vintage Gillette that's been in the family since then. I shave in the shower, and that makes things easier, I'm sure.

No pre-shave, Wilkinson blades from local drug store work fine for me. Sally Beauty Supply carries Personna in stock but I don't like them as well.

I use the Bigelow (Proraso) cream from Bath and Body Works, but I mix it with a hard soap by putting a dab of the Bigelow on top of a cake of the VanDerHagen soap that Walgreens carries, then stirring that around with a Rubberset 504 badger brush. I face lather with that, and like the result better than using either one alone.

I've used Old Spice mostly, but bought a huge bottle of Clubman recently, mostly for the way it looked on my shelf. I like it.

Bump to ask what clubman is?

Have now used Taylor of Olde Bond Street Avacodo and almond oil. Both are awesome.

I now have to stop buying. Or begin shaving entire body.

Brand of aftershave It's pretty cheap usually < $10.00, my favorite is the vanilla scent. And it's good stuff, just the right amount of burn.

I use dollar general razors. 5 disposables for $3.75. I use a clear gel in a blue tube that I buy at dollar tree. It's called "shave gel for men". I shave my face and head with this every morning.

OP. I'm disappointed that you didn't bring up nut sack grooming. I use electric.

Shave Secret. Walmart carries it. Small eyedropper size bottle. 10-12 drops on face after a hot shower. Nothing else needed but a good sharp razor. Almost impossible to cut yourself using this stuff. Use more at first to get your face use to shaving like a man.

I use my Merkur DE for that sometimes, but I think it is better to have a cartridge on hand for the man beads

Have not noticed a thread like this in a while.

They've been popping up every week or two.

I'm about to get my second razor, probably an EJ - I've been using a Merkur 180 with plain Gillette 7 O'Clock blades, but after about 18 months, I'm ready to move on to a slightly more aggressive razor and Feathers.

I also use a nice hand made pottery scuttle from Dirty Bird pottery.

I haven't gotten into preshaving oils and whatnot, but I typically prep my face with the same stuff I use to prep my head from Headblade.

I am looking at adding essential oils and uberlather at some point this year, after I move to the new razor.

I use Proraso cream and prefer the sandalwood - (red tube) - or more precisely, Mrs. Midnight prefers the sandalwood - I like both the sandalwood and menthol (green tube).

I will try blue tube (aloe) first and then move on to this.

Is CO Bigelowe and Proraso the SAME THING. I know they are both Proraso but are bath green tubes the same stuff with a different name? I have never read otherwise.

As I have mentioned the green tube is a bit too "refreshing" for me.

Just started shaving with a safety razor for the first time in 25 years. First few shaves were rough but its great now. How long does the blade last on a saefty razor?

Merkur DE safety razor with presaro shaving soap. Shaves much, much better than my old Mach 3. Got a pack of 100 blades for like $12. Even if only use a blade a week, that's almost two years of shaving. Do the math.
