V-day was never more than a card thing growing up.

These days it seems like Christmas-lite.

I don't get it.

I do little "surprise" things at random throughout the year. isnt that better than having to do something just because hallmark says to?

That is good. So why is it so difficult to do the same on Feb 14?

This whole "oh I'm too good for Valentine's day" attitude just makes you look like a dick.....and totally disqualifies you from ever enjoying steak and BJ day a month later.

My wife gets a new car every year for V-day.

I get a new house every year.
Corporate holiday, blah, blah, blah.

you know I'm kidding

Yall have fun tonight. Try and keep it under $200

I ended up spending about $150 on flowers and chocolate for my wife, jelly bean machine and jelly beans for the kids, and we still have dinner tonight. I'm guaranteed to get laid tonight.

If the Ferris Wheel is broken, they don't close the whole amusement park.

Gifts because you want to are better than gifts because you have to.

Why would you stop buying?

My dad and mom have been married for 42 years and he still buys her something for Valentine's Day.

We don't do gifts, but we do home cooked dinner and a movie (usually a chick flick).

We actually became exclusive over Valentines so we will always recognize it in some way. We had been dating for a few months and I created two cheesy Monopoly "chance" cards. They said "You are entitled to one free chick flick of your choosing, and I must watch it with you." I left them on her car's So our thing for Valentines is watching a chick flick. We also adopted a tradition of a home cooked meal over Valentines, instead of fighting crowds at restaurant.

I don't understand why there is so much debate and butt hurt ****s on here with issues with V-Day.

It's what you make of it as a day. If you married a dumb bitch that expects gifts, than I guess you need to get her gifts if that makes you happy.

If she likes flowers delivered, get her the damn roses.

Does it kill you to pick up a rose or a card. How about just fixing your woman a nice dinner.

I picked up a dozen crabs and some white wine for my wife this evening and she couldn't have been happier.

I buy gifts for him as well. Our first Vday I bought him great seats to a Suns game. This year I'm paying for movie and drinks, he's paying for dinner. Both will exchange cards with each other.

Point is I don't need a special day to pleasure him. I have fun with a day where it's a given that you do something nice for the one you love.

It's like telling your kids you'll buy them gifts throughout the year but they will not get anything for Christmas.

They always care. I learned the hard way that "you don't have to get me anything" actually means "Don't spend a bunch of money but at least get me something"

You're right. There's a chance one of us has too much to drink tonight and goes home and passes out. So it may have to wait until the AM.
