It's always amazed me how they can import shrimp from China and still be cheaper than the guys who catch and sell right at the docks or fish house.
I have a client whose company is in the retail flooring business. He says it is cheaper to buy lumber in the US and ship it to China have it milled and return it to the US than it is to mill it in the US. It is rather mind-boggling to me.

It’s a blue state.
Hence why we love Trump so much.
Democrat or Republican, Louisiana has always been a populist state.

It’s hard to believe anything the shrimpers say because they are all terrible businessmen with a 4th grade education, and as we learned after Deepwater Horizon, don’t keep any books and don’t pay any taxes.
A lot of them also get loans from the dock owners at the beginning of the season to get their boats ready and fuel up for trips at the beginning of the season or when their bank account is dry. They also need the dock for ice.
The smart ones are peddling shrimp and have freezers and freezer boats. They live in big houses drive nice cars and take vacations on 30A

They should focus more on the exporting and forget about the importing.

It is in fact as low as the shrimpers are claiming. The problem is the customer is not seeing the result of it. The docks are getting shrimp cheap, distributors are selling them cheap, restaurants are buying them cheap but the end user (customer) is not seeing the result in the stores or restaurants. The shrimpers are getting screwed on the front end and the customers are getting screwed on the back end, meanwhile the guys in the middle are benefitting. It is really sad what is happening due to the imports flooding the market.

A LOT of shrimpers got a LOT of money from BP and I honestly don’t think the industry was as affected as they thought so I could care less where I buy my shrimp from. Cuz you and me didn’t get Jack but were most certainly affected. Tired of the constant whining by shrimpers/ fisherman.

It's awful here in Alabama too. I was in Bayou La Batre the other day and it was crazy how many shrimp boats were docked up.

They never did anything to me. I just know way too much that goes on down there.

They should make a union and tell the docks to frick off
But the dock sets the price for the shrimp
And if the trawler sells his shrimp off the boat and not to the dock at 1/4 of the price, the dock blackballs them

Shrimpers and Crawfish guys are world class whiners.....especially the crawfish people. Who sell all of their tail meat up north and in Europe at a premium.....especially Scandinavia.

Thanks for correcting. I should have said I really don’t care. If they were cheating the system then I really have no compassion for them.

I agree on DC.
If anyone wants shrimp go on FB and search shrimp for sale, find someone selling, put in an order and take a ride DTB and get some. I buy about 200lbs a year to cook at my house. My family loves shrimp and it's one of the cheapest, cleanest, proteins you can buy.
Everyone trawling right now is racking up and the prices are low. Right now is I'd the time to buy.
