Seriously, NOLA should have been in stage 3 mid-May. But, Avegno and the Destroya love their power.

Looking at states across the South, the downward trend started about the same time regardless if masks required or not. Seems more like it is going through the rest of the state like it did in NOLA in March/April then suddenly hospitals had no patients from full ICU's in about a week, I'm hearing that two hospitals in NOLA have zero CV patients the last two weeks

This has been my complaint all along. The one size fits all approach.

It’ll have to be less than 5% for at least 2-3 weeks and still descending that last week. Any rise, any day above 5%, he ain’t moving.

Exactly.

They are not counting the deaths as negatives to the hospital numbers!

We moved to Phase 2 with a >5% positivity rate

now they may be more cautious now, but there is precedent

Salmon, you’re a smart dude and I have a question
I have been posting the hospital data lately and believed it to be good news because it was falling in key states

But what if the number of hospitalized patients is falling only because deaths are surging at the hospitals and freeing up beds?

It’s theoretically possible for the number of new admittances to a hospital to increase while the number of hospitalized falls, if deaths caused so many open beds.

Is that what is happening here?

Day 1: 30 new admits, 20 deaths. +10 new hospitalizations

Day 2: 40 new admits, 35 deaths. +5 new hospitalizations

Day 3: 50 new admits, 55 deaths. -5 hospitalizations

This trend looks good on surface, but actually very bad

Is that what is happening here?

I'd rather him keep us in Phase 2 for an extra month than have him go to Phase 3, numbers rise (which they will, which is fine), then have him jerk us back down to 2.

I cant get onboard with this mindset. Numbers are gonna jump whenever we go from two to three. It does not matter if it's now or 6 months from now.

I have no idea

but I know deaths lag hospitalizations and if people are not filling those beds after someone dies, then deaths will begin to decline shortly after hospitalizations decline

Exactly!

Not just states but ppl.

Under 50. No serious health issues.
Live normal.

Not everyone is 80.
Or gets winded walking up stairs.

I don’t think this is what is happening.

Even if it is we are still improving because the cases are not increasing. If we were truly in a pandemic state the cases would increase exponentially. Not only are we not increasing exponentially, we aren’t increasing period anymore. It means the end is near.

The key question is... are we controlling the virus or is it controlling us?

Hopefully, it’s the later and the virus is doing what it wants regardless of what we do, that would mean we are reaching herd immunity.

Think we will need another week of downward trend. So hopefully he only extends for 1 week. Yes, I expect it to be 2weeks.
