Re food, the pizzas there are cooked like "apple pies" are prepared. There are actual pizzs restaurants, with large menues, as opposed to the typical Pizza Huts & Poppa Johns. Great pizza. the Pump Room for real Italian food & a great history going back to Capone's days. As noted, drive north along the lake to see some incredible mansions: picture those on St. Charles Ave in N.O. with huge tree filled lots. There is a world class outdoor mall if the family wants to shop a bit. AVOID any Popeyes Chicken: pure grease. If you have an extra day, Milwaukee is a hop, skip and jump north of Chicago & there are some great beer halls & German food restaurants. A great city: in the spring & early fall.

Take the kids to see where Obama did all his social work that prepared him to be POTUS.

You've covered most everything. The bolded items are the ones that my kids enjoyed the most at that age. You might want to consider a Gangster Tour.

Also, Gino's East or Lou Malnati's.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the Shedd Aquarium, next door to the Field Museum. I've always found the Field Museum to be rather dry but the aquarium will sure hold the interest of the kids. The dolphin show in particular is magnificent.

Brookfield Zoo is world class and worth full day with the kids. Lincoln Park Zoo is closer in and easier to get to, and you can rent row boats to paddle around the lagoon.

Sounds like you hit all the popular things to do.

Personally I thought Hancock tower > Willis tower. Cheaper, less wait (if there is one) and its at the start of the Millennium mile. I think they also added a new attraction to it where the side of the building tilts over the street.

If you're an active family, rent bikes and explore the 18-mile bike trail along the lakefront. There are bike rental places all over the loop and the near north side. And yes, that's the Oak Street beach just visible in the photo.

Wife and I just returned from a trip to Chicago. I highly recommend getting the CityPass tickets. They give you access to the Field Museum, Art Museum/Planetarium, Science and Technology, Willis Tower Skydeck, and the Aquarium. You get VIP passes with this which gives you 4D rides, fast passes past the lines for Willis Tower and Museum lines. It was well worth the $94/ticket, and the savings were big.

The Navy Pier is under construction on the South side right now, so it was completely dead when we went. Most of the rides aren't operating.
