You mean you don't have a main line generator hooked up to natural gas? Trashy.

But really, if you don't have a marine ice chest and a few bags of ice to store your food in, just let the generator run. You'll eventually tune it out.

I don't understand how people can have issues with generators. Yeah they're loud, but cmon, the power's out and it was caused by a freaking tornado.

As a non-generator owner I agree with this. I hate the sound of my neighbor's generator at all times.

Unless your neighbors want to replace the spoiled food.

No one will complain about a generator in a power outage.

It's loud, but it's a common sound.

What are your thoughts in running this all night? It's pretty loud. Understandable in this situation?

absolutely. I ran mine all last night. I pan on going home and running it mid day, and then again when I get home. I ain't losing two deer's worth of sausage and all the crawfish bisque I made last month.

Someone on here MJ2 I think pointed out some Nat gas conversion kit for generators. As I filled mine up yesterday I lamented not ordering the NG kit.

Don't put dry ice in a freezer.

I learned that instant hot water heaters suck in power outage situations.

I can barely hear mine running when standing next to it...With that said, the noise from other gens don't really bother me.

I do not think people in south Louisiana even notice when a generator is running.

Sorry can't help you, but have fun with the 5 gal gas cans. I have a 35kw that runs my house, cuts it's self on and off as needed.

You will have to wake up to put gas in it. I remember taking generator fill up turns during Rita.

How big of a tank do you have on the generator...?

On mine, the 5 gallons usually ran for approx 12 hours....I would fill it in the morning and evening...

This. Neighbor on the street behind me (different neighborhood) had his on and didn't hear it until I got the paper this am.

And I live in an old house near LSU that I'm upgrading and a built in generator is on the list of things to ad. Had one ever since Katrina and it was great.

If I can sleep with it right outside my bedroom, than my neighbors should have no problem sleeping through it.

Haha This coming from the guy still without power. Welcome to the hood, it was worth it when power was out for 12 days after gustave and it was life as usual around my house or when kids were young and power would go out for 1/2 day on a random sunny day for no reason etc. and we didn't have to relocate nanny and kids. Rest easy you have a standing invitation to move in for next extended outage, hell at this rate that may be tonight
