However, a bill making its way through the Legislature looks to make getting the marijuana a little easier. Montegut suggested lawmakers might want to think twice about moving that bill forward, saying, “If you’ve got a 30-day supply of THC in there with an inhaler, you can just keep puffing away.”

So right as the legalization bill starts to work its way through the legislature, this guy just so happens to find the first ever case of overdose.

It’s not the first case ever.

Science tells us it’s possible and is happening. People just choose to ignore it because marijuana is a big business.

St. John the Baptist Parish Coroner Christy Montegut said last week that toxicology results for a 39-year-old LaPlace woman who died in February showed that she was killed by an excess amount of THC, the main active ingredient in marijuana.

Dude should lose his job for his act being so fricking obvious. Imagine being that dead persons family and realizing that your loved ones death was being used as propaganda

Embarrassing...

And some lunatic in Legislature will use this as reason to curb enthusiasm for marijuana distribution and ask for regulation tighter than a blood knot.

"You see! We can't have our youth overdosing on this dangerous drug."

believes this could be an index case in medicine, perhaps the first death on record solely as a result of THC exposure.

What’s more likely? A pudunk Coroner doesn’t know what he’s doing? Or he’s literally discovered the first person in history to OD on weed?

There was a coroner for our parish that was elected, and his only credentials was that he worked for a funeral home. And what's even more funny is that if the sheriff is unable to perform his duties, the coroner is next in line.

I once underestimated the power of edibles back in the early 2000’s. I literally thought I was gonna be the first person to OD on weed what an idiot

Just because you stoners think it’s not true doesn’t make it so. Science has known about this for years.

But by all means, keep smoking your life away.

“We know from really good survey data that Americans use cannabis products billions of times a year, collectively. Not millions of times, but billions of times a year,” said Humphreys. “So, that means that if the risk of death was one in a million, we would have a couple thousand cannabis overdose deaths a year.

Then where are they? Just waiting for some slack jawed coroner to make this groundbreaking discovery and now reefer is going to begin making people OD all over?

LaPlace is internationally renowned for their cutting edge forensic pathology so this must be legit.

I’d love to see this “science” you claim, but you cannot find a legitimate source so this is just you speaking out of your arse due to antiquated beliefs, political/financial agendas or just willful ignorance. Open your eyes and quit letting big pharma and the media control your mind.

No one could consume enough to get to a toxic level, they would just fall asleep long, long before that. And probably have a super restful sleep at that. Worst case scenario is paranoia (probably has more to do with mental health state than anything else) or the spins, but even that is more when drinking too much while smoking. Otherwise, seeing the back of your eyelids for a few hours.
