DR Montegut is a well known quack and he became coroner because his patients knew he was a lousy doctor and quit going to him. there are stories after stories of this guy telling people to go home and rest rather then actually find out whats wrong with them. there have even been lawsuits for malfeasance and dereliction in not following basic care guidelines. its a well know fact you cant trust him at all and he will ignore any and all medical issues you have even if it is killing you.

However, there is nothing in 3 years of medical school that qualifies someone to suddenly, unilaterally discover that pot is deadly.
I do not mean this sarcastically nor am I trying to be mean, but Dr. Montegut graduated from Tulane Medical School in 1977. He should probably be tested for some shite. If an elderly family member of mine started thinking random stuff was poisonous, I'd definitely lean in that direction.

Remember: In Louisiana the coroner is a political elected position, not one based on skill and merit, and it does not require any medical training or proven competence therein. They are just given the powers of the office upon election.
It's similar to how a sheriff doesn't have to have any law enforcement experience to be elected, but suddenly is given all the power of a sheriff if elected. It's an awful lot of power, too.
