Office of Motor Vehicles locations around Louisiana are unable to process transactions because of a fire at the state police data center.

State police spokesman Capt. Doug Cain said the data center fire Thursday has shut down all automated systems at the Department of Public Safety, which includes the motor vehicles offices.

The most obvious problem for the public will be at OMV locations.

Cain says workers are staying onsite at the motor vehicles offices, but currently all they can do is turn people away. He says a vendor is heading to the data center in Baton Rouge to determine how long repairs will take.
Sounds like another day at the office for them

I bet it didn't take out the computers that monitor all the slot machines at the various non Indian casinos throughout the state.

Unfortunately it's affecting more than just the DMV.

That's the state's largest datacenter and there's s lot more than the DMV and state police in there now that it's consolidated across many state agencies.

As an IT consultant who has seen a lot of what goes on I could say more but I'll just say that worse can and will happen.

I'm surprised. That those places don't get hacked regularly.

Coordinating DR is going to be a fiasco, depending on what was impacted.

This is a huge problem for a lot of outer agencies. With AFIS and access to NCIC down, jails and police have no way of confirming identities or seeing any out of parish warrant.
