I remember playing Ace of Base on cassette and jamming to it while mowing.

I also remember using my CD player on baseball trips and bringing along a massive CD book. I still have that bad boy.

shite...I was so damn happy when I finally got a Walkman. Before that, I was bringing this on field trips in the early 80's...

I remember riding the bus, this would have been around 1980-81. I was about 4th or 5th grade. There was a senior who always sat in the back seat with one of those tape players and he'd play Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" over and over. I can't remember his real name but everyone called him "Alfie". The thing that made it all surreal was the fact he was the exact twin of the traditional image we have of Jesus Christ, down to the long hair and beard. So imagine being a 4th or 5th grader and looking in the back of the bus and you see Jesus wearing a Kiss tee-shirt and rocking out to Queen.

At the start of every school year I'd get five brand new pair of Toughskins, one for every day of the school week. Those we supposed to last until at least spring unless I hit a crazy growth spurt or something. Of course when the knees got wore out she'd put these on them...

Then about 82 or so she started taking me to Boaz to the "VF Outlet" to buy my school clothes. That's when I got to switch over to the much cooler "Lee" brand of jeans.

A little after that, about 83-84 (I'm hitting my teens now), she started taking me to a store in the Gadsden Mall called "Directions". That's where I'd get my super cool parachute pants, spiked belts, and sleeveless, mesh tee-shirts. There was also a record store there called "Turtles" where I could get cool "rock" tee shirts as well.

I remember when that came out in 1976. Mom let us order some albums out of the TV Guide when they'd put that insert in them where you could tape a penny to this card and mail it in for like 5 or 6 albums. Kiss "Destroyer" was my first choice. I remember listening to that record on the giant record player we had in the living room...

Remember you could put tape over the corners of a cassette and record over it.

I have 2 Live Crew and NWA on some random cassette so my parents would not see what I was really listing to.

When I was little momma drew the line at Kiss so absolutely no Black Sabbath was allowed in the house because according to momma, they were "of the devil". I remember being about 7 or 8 and going over to spend the night at a friend's house and seeing this album in his older bother's record collection....

... It scared the shite out of me because I thought the guy on the cover had to be a solider for Satan or something and the big brother was probably going to sacrifice us to the Devil in the middle of the night.

Oh yeah, I remember people saying that about Kiss. And I'll admit Gene Simmons did kind of scare the hell out of me when I was just getting into them around 76-77 when I was 6-7 years old. "God of Thunder" really freaked me out but at the same time I loved it.
