Do you remember the cable boxes where you had to get up and manually click the individual channel??

I remember having to go rent a cable box from the movie rental joint in order to buy the Tyson fights.

I never saw cable boxes for rent. But I do remember when Video stores first came out the first thing you'd do when you walked in the door was make sure they still had VCR's available for rent before you went and picked out your movies.

I also remember they had a separate room marked "Adults Only" where they kept the X-Rated stuff.

All about recording on Maxell XLII's back then. Man those things were some good tapes. Man I miss checking the levels and the EQ before recording an album.

that's where it was at bro. Made some mad mix tapes for middle school and high school hotties. Kids just don't understand the romanticism that went into a hard earned mix tape. The weeks of dedication to make it perfect for her.

Just to have her laugh in your face . Man the pain those little girls caused back then.

I remember in the very early 2000's sitting in the dugout before a baseball game and a guy whipped out one of these. Had thousands of songs on it. BLEW OUR MINDS. Thing was a freaking brick too. Crazy now I couldn't even be bothered to keep an ipod around since my phone does everything.

I was going through some things in storage last year and found this beast that had been hibernating for years. Didn't try it to see if it still worked.

Damn. We had an old bus with no air and fiberglass seats

The bus I rode had a driver install. Pioneer deck with four 6x9's. I'm sure it was not standard school bus install.

My job in college...so say from 90-94 or so? Alfalfa Video in Lafayette. We still had video players for rent under the counter, but it was pretty rare that we had to rent any. We did spend an inordinate amount of time trying to convince idiots not to leave the god damned tapes on their dashboards because THEY WOULD melt. And yeah...they would... And since this was before what they would call "sell though" meaning the studios were still overcharging for tapes so that people needed to rent videos or pay $75 each for them, when some asshat would melt their tape we'd end up charging them retail...and they'd lose their shite every time.

Oh...we had that section, but surprisingly...we had it right ion the middle of the store! Like...dead center. No curtain...nothing. They were all cable ready type tapes...no XXX stuff, like Cinemax type stuff, but how we never seemed to get outraged customers kind of amazes me. People would absolutely lose their minds today if that was the case...

I remember as a kid when there was no cable, and Ali's fights (and Evil Knevil's jumps) were on ABC, in primetime.

My first TV was an adult was Curtis Mathes console, no remotes and 4 channels. We still didn't have Cable to that part of the Parish when I left in 1994

shite, I grew up on 8 tracks and vinyl. Had one of those old Panasonic Plunger 8 track players, used to have it on the tractor when cutting the pasture. Still laugh when I think about that awful pause then clunk clunk sound when it switched tracks in the middle of a song. Good times back then. Watching Dazed and Confused really brings me back, that was set during the time I was in 9th grade.
