When Im paying 45k for a mid size truck, I expect it to have AT LEAST comparable features to the full size trucks. Instead, you get around half of the features, and lets be honest, that 3.5 engine and transmission aren't that reliable .

It sounds like you bought the wrong truck from the get-go. My '17 DCLB is perfect for me, but I hardly tow more than a small trailer and we do all the family driving in my wife's car. I needed a truck with 4wd that can hold a rack in the bed for hauling glass, and that's what my Tacoma offers me. If technology was big for you, Toyota was the wrong choice. They've always been years behind on that front. The transmission thing was a little annoying at first, but I don't even notice it anymore.

Muh Ram is unreliable!!!

I had a 2004 Ram that was as good as any truck I ever owned.

The Tacoma is a fine truck, but it’s a turd for what 80% of folks need a pickup for.

I've got a 2012 4x4 Tacoma with 188k miles on it. It's still in great shape. I change the oil every 5k, full synthetic only.

Also, for you baws like me that didn't bother to read the service manual, Toyota recommends you chance the front and rear diff, and transfer case oil every 30k miles. But you never have to touch the transmission.

So far the only big thing I've had to replace, other than tires and batteries, was drive shaft u-bolt and hanger bearing. I bought the truck used and I think the previous owner must have done a lot of driving on the beaches and didn't rinse the underside after.

For me, it's the perfect size (fits in my garage) and has enough power for me. I don't pull a boat and my fishing kayak fits in the bed just fine.

When this one finally dies, I'll buy a new one.

Nobody is disputing that Tacomas have a history of reliability.

They’re just lacking in almost every other category.

Well.....like what?! Not big enough for the truck nuts?!?
Unless you’re towing/hauling heavy stuff, a mid size truck like a taco will fit most people’s needs. Sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself that you made the right decision.

Cant say how many times I have someone tell me "I would've gotten one but they have no power" or "can't tow, blah, blah". When I ask what are they towing its always "bwa bwa but Ima get a 25' ft Blackjack.." They never have, never do. Most people with full size trucks don't pull shite. Nothing. They complain about the size. It can't fit Braixton's travel ball team. Vast majority of the time they are riding solo.Doesn't matter if its a midsize Taco, Chevy, Honda, they will fit MOST poeple's needs.

Wrong, because its the truck (or any midsize truck brand) that MOST people need. It's just that most people convince themselves they need a full size. To each his own but be honest about needs vs wants.

It falls woefully short on comfort - especially if you are over 6’ tall. You will feel like you are sitting on the floor. Adjust the seat upward, and your head will touch the ceiling very easily.

I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone that puts a lot of miles behind the wheel. Go with something more comfortable.

What year did you have? My 2016 has a tow rating of 6800 and pulls my 20 ft bowrider ski boat just fine. I've pulled it all over Texas with no issues. And I wasn't dumb enough to think I would still get 19-20 mpg while towing.

My brother agreed wholeheartedly with you and got rid of his as well. His biggest gripe was its a shitty riding vehicle.

. I have 10 ply 33” mud tires on mine, you either drive it (I.e. pay attention) or you will be in the ditch.

You probably wouldn't have been happy with any other midsized trucks.

Compare the Tacoma to other midsize and it becomes a no-brainer. There's a reason the Tacoma outsells the Colorado by over 130K.

The pro can cost that. High 30s for TRD.

I WANT a truck that can haul 4 adults without two of them riding in the bed.

I've never owned one. I just Googled and the 2020 has a 5k towing capacity.

I googled the 2016 and it says 5k as well.

Thats still a huge difference....most people arent buying a pro....my trd sport was 34.5...by comparison my tundra crewmax trd offroad was 43k and is a lot more truck...however my point is viewing a tacoma as a 45k truck is a bit of a stretch
