Thats a good point. I'm 5'11 and 3/4 and have hit my head twice getting in mine. I'm at the tall end of the spectrum for being comfortable in them.

The Colorado is quickly becoming the oldest feeling mid sized truck, next to the Tacoma.

I drive a Suzuki Equator which is a Nissan Frontier clone. There is no older-new vehicle than a Nissan Frontier.

think the current generation of Tacoma is great but not as good as the previous generation. For what you get, I think they are overpriced but that's not to say they are unreliable or don't perform as intended. I've seen some for sale up here in Colorado for $50k plus. You can get a lot more out of a full size truck for that price.

That’s because it’s now Hecho en Mexico

Um. My LG has real GPS in it.

As does the android headunit in my side by side. I've used each in VERY rural areas with no cell service.

How tall are you? I'm a little over 6'2", and I have never been able to get comfortable in a Tacoma without moving the seat nearly all the way down and back. I end up feeling like I am sitting on the floor. And the backseat is then nearly useless at that point. I can get comfortable in a Frontier, Colorado, and Canyon with no issue.

6’1”

No issues for me. I’ve had 4 full sized people in my double cab with no issues.

Gaia GPS, it costs money, but you can download maps. These aren’t just street maps, but all kinds of different maps. I have one for all the forest service roads and trails. It also works with Apple CarPlay which is in the 2020+ Tacoma. Wish it was wireless, but I got a dongle that allows that pretty well.

Does it download all at once or do you need to piece it together like Avenza?

I'm trying to map the Ozarks and ouchita up around Mena.

Interesting.

Can you fit a rear facing child seat without scooting the front seat forward? I may be truck shopping next year.

True, but the next gen Frontier will be unveiled tomorrow.

I think that's a 16 year old design right now. It was intended to compete with the previous generation Colorado, Tacoma, and Dodge Dakota.

I'm actually very interested in the next gen Frontier. The current trucks made after 2011 were very reliable but very simple. They'd be pretty nice with modern tech. Nissan spent so long phoning things in....but their newest products are awesome except for the CVT, which the Frontier won't have.

My next vehicle might be my last gas powered truck. I intend to keep it for a LONG time. A diesel powered Colorado would be cool. But so would the next gen Frontier or the Tacoma TRD Off Road (if they truly fixed the seat problems this year). None are perfect, but this will be a fairly low mileage vehicle that I intend to keep for 15 years.

Probably not, the one we had was sizable and probably wouldn’t fit with my wife in the front. I had an 09 access cab when my kid was this size that I couldn’t use at all. I managed to fit a regular car seat in there, but now that she has moved to boosters, I had to get a double cab.

I'm 5'10" on a good day and my toddler's front facing seat was cramped behind me in a 2018 double cab.

This might be a problem for me. Maybe the Colorado or Frontier would be a better option. I'd rather not go full sized because I just don't need to tow more than about 5,000 lbs and I like the extra garage space.

But on the flip side, a semi-cramped interior will prevent my car from being the default "family car".

If I get a Colorado, I'm getting the turbodiesel w/ the 6 speed. For the Toyota and Nissan, I'd get the gas V6. The Ford Ranger doesn't really appeal to me.

I'm just not sold on the new engine.

Especially since a company put out a tune a few weeks ago that bumps the 4.0l up to over 300hp and more importantly 315ft/lb of torque.

The mods required? Premium fuel

As long as I have kids in car seats, I would not consider anything other than a fullsize with a legit crew cab. Besides the leg room for both rows, the middle seat in the back is still usable for an adult in a full size. My f150 is very comfortable even with both kids in their seats.

My wife actually wanted it, so it was a concession.

Fair concern.

Despite their literature, I am pretty sure the 3.8L is just a "de-bored" 4.0L with updated heads and with 9 speed auto (instead of a 5 speed). It shouldn't be any less reliable, but who knows what else they changed.

They do get significantly better MPG. The old 4.0L Frontier would see 17mpg on a good day.

I'll have to try it out definitely.

The Ridgeline has plenty of interior space.
