Obligations vs Contracts is the one I always think of.

Nice, I'm working for a firm here now. What year at Tulane ?

Ya, I sometimes wonder how Texas pulled it off.
The test scores needed to get into any thing there are pretty steep.
It really depends on what the state wants to do. I would think the state sees UT as an opportunity to lure national talent into the state, and the other schools can handle locals.
Alabama may not have enough institutions to do that, or may just want to focus on educating the locals.

That's a terrible list

Tulane just received their highest ranking in recent memory. They cracked the top 40, either 38 or 39. I saw it on the news a couple days ago. Vandy was much higher.

Nice, did you take the plunge like we did and have to sit for the TX bar or did you already have it?
2011, she was later.

i've landed a few law school OT 7.2's with the "say girl, you must be SEC rule 506 'cause you look like you'd be safe harbor for my regulation D," line

Of course Tulane is well respected.
It's a great place for med school and public health and social work.
I'd say it's behind Vanderbilt and Emory. Not that that's a knock on Tulane.
Id say on par with USC.

I'm sure it works well on the 1Ls yelling out 12(b)(6) at bars.

I would like Auburn to follow Alabama's lead in recruiting top talent out of state, but I don't live in Alabama and don't have to answer to citizens. Culturally, I think there is opposition to doing that from both UA and AU, at least on a long term level.
I think both are a little underrated and subjected to a little bit of anti-Alabama bias, but nonetheless, there will be a relatively low ceiling unless the state itself really grows and improves. The growth of Atlanta should continue to help both maintain positioning in the conference, but I think they're stuck between UF/UGA/A&M and everyone else in that hierarchy for the foreseeable future.

most people that go to tulane don't pay full tuition. actually, idk anyone who's gone there that didn't at least have a half tuition scholly.
i'm sure there are rich kids who do,but most people pay around half or less.

and that's exactly what kind of applicant, with that degree from any school, would apply to those companies, geez, what an inappropriate analogy

Ya, I think the love for the Alabama state schools may actually be too strong to convince people that bringing in outside talent to develop the state would lift all boats. Proximity to Atlanta will always be good for them.
People feel like they "own" those schools. I'm trying to pick up the vibe of UT here, but so far, it just isn't the same. It's serious no doubt, but they've bought in on it being an academic institution. Thoughts subject to change.

Nah, in most things it's probably a wash but USC has a couple of departments that are world class and they're more "known".
But I'm sure their Calculus I classes are similar, FWIW.

There's a reason I picked "philosophy" as the exact degree with which to make the analogy.

no kidding, AU people, similar to aTm people are very delusional about their schools, in many aspects

It still sucks
Biggest takeaways are no breaks between test days (2.5), the MBE just kinda mind fricking you since you miss like 40% of the answers and still do "well," and the fact that it appears the examiners throw at least 1 "frick you" essay question on the exam that every one bombs.
Besides that, Oil and Gas isn't that hard, and the Consumer Law section is frankly, a joke.
