closer to something like SMU. A well-respected regional private school

Or would Vanderbilt, USC, or Emory hold more weight?

All of those are significantly better than Tulane.

I would say Tulane is on the same level as Emory but below USC and Vandy.

I hate Emory so maybe in practice this is true. But I don't think Tulane's academic reputation is on par with Emory's.

I have with a few. At Tulane Law which is funny.

Since I went to school with kids from all over the country and go around a lot, Tulane is a school everybody has heard about and respects, but doesn't have anything to say about it.

So while you go to Vanderbilt and people say "oh you went to Vanderbilt!?" That doesn't happen with Tulane.

Best way I can describe it.

What about it? I know some attorneys who went there and a couple of people who went for undergrad.

It all depends on the level of degree, field, and the region

Would imagine Emory holds more weight on a resume in Carolinas than Tulane.

Tulane has some cachet in Houston, NOLA, and a little in the Northeast metropolitan areas.

lol
I'm not trying to bad mouth Tulane but it's not nearly on emorys level. It's somewhere in between SMU and the other schools OP named.

Yes.

But if you're from Louisiana and don't have aspirations of going somewhere else it's a colossal waste of money

Tulane and Emory's student bodies are pretty similar. They used to be anyway, not sure how the community service focus TU tried to push after Katrina has impacted the type of students they get now
