Your blatant disrespect of what our veterans do can only come from ignorance on the subject
Get yourself educated by chatting with a few combat vets and report back when you’re head pops out of your arse

What kind of special treatment do vets really get?
Have you seen the disability that veterans can get tax free. Some can get $50K a year tax free for life and still work a full time job.

If they experienced combat yes

On the list of people who deserve special treatment, it’s right up there.

Exactly. I love when people who have 0 military experience mention that we were "compensated just like any other job". I remember looking at tax statements after my first 4 years and averaging my pay per hour. After factoring in the average cost of healthcare and BAH, I made around $6/hour. That's with 2 deployments.
I made about $12k a year in the Army and don't think I ever had more disposable income in my life.

if you never got shot/shot at, you don't really deserve the GI bill or any other benefits imo

Combat vets are different than peacetime vets.
Absolutely, they are!
Although, I was in during the Vietnam War Era, I do consider myself a peacetime veteran. My thanks go out to all combat veterans who have served this country well!

Eh, I don't know. I'd gladly give my benefits to these folks if I could.

I don't think I ever did 40 in a week the entire time I was in. The norm was 60-70 per week, if not more.
Yep, I had some weeks easily in the hundreds of hours and went a whole year with maybe five days off (if you count being off being stuck on a base inside a tent laying in your cot all day). When I transitioned to civilian life, 40 hours felt like part time.

GI bill is a recruiting tool and every person in the military should get it if they are honorably discharged. I used the hell out of mine and graduated without any student loans. Was the biggest perk of joining IMO.

As a current member of the armed forces, I don't even disclose the fact that I'm in the military unless someone directly asks what I do for a living. I don't ask for military discounts and I don't normally use the fact that I'm in the military to board an airplane early unless I'm tired and wanting to get in my seat so I can start taking a nap.
First, thank you for your service! By your own admission, you don't look or ask for any special treatment because of your service.
That's fine & works for you...but many older veterans that I know, & myself, look forward to any perks that may come as a result of our past service. We are proud of our veteran status and appreciate what comes because of it with no regrets.
You do you, we'll do us!

Not saying they don’t deserve a pat on the back but people really be overselling the veteran thing. It’s a job and you did it. Not for free but for some compensation.
Working for the government doesn't make you special. If you think it does then you have fallen for government propaganda.
