Or is it overrun and phased out now? I used to go 7-8 years ago when it was first coming up, but I suspect its lost its charm by now.

Are there any better places on the Gulf for a myself-and-wife-only trip? I looked at nearby Alys Beach I have been hearing about, but everything I saw was like $9k / week. I mean I'm a baller and all, but that's a tad more than I was looking to drop.

Definitely busier than it was years ago. Stay near the East Green and it isn't nearly as busy.

Yes.

Not yet. But, they are building LOTS of new shopping at that corner of 30A and 98...so, in a year or so it will be pretty close to overrun

It is still cool now. More restaurants and things there (just enough to service the area...not too overdone...yet, as mentioned)

Blue Mountain Beach might be a bit cheaper 10 miles west or so. LINK

Gulf coast beach culture = indie music culture:

"We used to go to 30A before it got so popular. Now we go to this awesome place...you've probably never heard of it."

Now that every middle class family can and does schlek on over to 30A, get a sticker, and post it on Facebook, people want somewhere new to go.

We'll be there for the 4th......it's still nice but 30-A in general has become victim of its charm over the past 15 years. We still love it.

We like Grayton Beach. It's a bit a bit quieter, yet still has a nice "downtown" area with a few shops and restaurants.
