Is hazing in the military common?

If so, do they do it to everybody, or only to people they don't like?
With all of the outrage directed at fraternities, I would tbink this would be discussed occasionally.

No one hazes. You educate.

Depends on what you consider hazing. I've never made anyone eat dog food or smoke 47 packs of cigarettes before.

I'll answer bc you have Chuck Bass in your avi.
I went to Military College, it was common there
I don't think its common the military tho, those guys livelihood depend on it and from the most part they are very professional

there is no hazing... there is additional military instruction...

I wouldn't call it hazing. But if a mother fricker is getting us beat as a squad, platoon, etc. every day, he's going to get woken up in the middle of the night to learn a valuable lesson that may involve some type of physical harm.

it was when i was in. especially on submarines. there's alot of shite we can get way with that nobody else can.
Submarine Force is very secretive. we basically got hazed for everything....crossing the equator, crossing the IDL, promotions, getting your dolphins....etc. etc.

I would consider 95% of what goes on in the military as hazing, but I have a real problem with conformity and authority figures.

You get messed with a little bit when you transfer into a new unit but that's just to see what you're made of. But I never saw any mass hazing while I was in. Esprit de corps is achieved in more effective ways.

I liked to call it "calibration". As in "I'm about to calibrate the frick out of this NUB with a fricking crescent wrench".

I was thinking the more selective/elite/special forces(?) would have something similar to an initiation ritual.
eta: and "fixing" the frick ups of lower ranks

With all of the ability to file EO and IG complaints over all sorts of but hurt, it has declined dramatically over the the last 30 years. But even at its height, I don't think it was ever as deviant as what occurs at frats. Mostly a lot of unsanctioned exercise and physical toughening thrown in with some belittliing which could cross lines or become dangerous.

It's called a 'code red'

There are just some people in this world that can't grasp simple things.
We learn by repetition, pain, and pleasure.
So when a person can grasp something simple that's been repeated a ton of times and it be pleasurable, the only other option is pain.
There are many many people in this world that need to learn from pain. It 100% will fix a problem

Blood Ranks when getting promoted, completing airborne and air assault, is real. Thought my collar bone was broke after air assault, pretty sure it was at least chipped.

The 24 news cycle went full blast on military hazing about 15 years ago. Video emerged of a guy getting his wings punched into his chest and bleeding.
It lasted a week or whatever and they moved on. I'm sure it's time to cycle around again

What most civilians don't understand is that the majority of people receiving a warfare pin feel it's an honor to have them beaten into your chest. That whole standing there going through what all your brothers before you have done...
