Yeah, forgot about that. shite, when I was at SLU the female to male ratio was right at 6:1. I would be lying if I said I didn't thoroughly enjoy myself during my time in Hammond.

Never lived in Hammond but went there on business for years and found it to be a really decent town. It's a college town, not too far from BTR or NO, decent eating... you need to slow down - Hammond ain't a bad town.

Never been to Hammond so can't comment one way or the other on it being trashy but I did come across this picture when Googling "Hammond, LA" Not sure what the hell it has to do with anything but thought it was interesting.

Compared to what it used to be, Bogalusa would fit the bill. Now it's a shite hole of the highest regards.

It has been voted the cleanest city pretty regularly, and SLU gets all the dumb sloots from nola and the Northshore so when school is in session there is some talent. Downtown area has made a strong turn around into a mixed use development which is pretty desirable these days.

Pretty sure Harvey Updyke lives in Hammond now so it might be the trashiest.

Also, The Crescent is the greatest damned hidden treasure in the entire parish.

College town, good restaurants, good bars, and voted cleanest city in the state 8 out of the last 10 years. Yeah sounds real trashy

It sounds like you were on the wrong side of hwy 51. Every city has a bad area. The west side of Hammond is the bad side. I blame it on Livingston creeping over. The east side of Hammond and downtown are very nice and offer a lot.

I live in the city limits of Hammond. Good quality eats, but the quantity of restaurants is not great. Lots of younger crowd because of the college. Clean. I like it.
I lived in Denham for a few years and hated it.

College town with college babes, solid downtown area, great restaurants and bars. It's small but not "po dunk" town small either, traffic typically isn't bad and not much crime either, especially when you compare it to NOLA or BR. It's also less than an hour away from NOLA or BR and a relatively short drive to the coast, nothing wrong with a location like that. It ain't the best but it's far from the worst...
