What difference does it make? It's just a word. It only has power over you if you let it.

I disagree completely.

I have never once cursed AT my kids, but I don’t care if they hear me. It’s just the way I speak from time to time. So be it. The world exists outside of our home. They’re going to hear it.

My parents never cursed around me as a kid, and if I did , my mom would have beaten me. And I wasn’t allowed to watch rated R movies unless I slipped off to a friend’s house.

It’s not all black and white. And one habit or intent won’t necessarily lead to the other. In my case, their parenting method had the opposite intended outcome. Sorry mom

Edit to add:
I remember a big deal was made years back about how Eminem never cursed around his kids/daughter. He didn’t want them to hear it. How noble*. “fricking blow me”

My son thinks that the word dammit and the various iterations of it only apply to driving

No one curses more than I mother fricking do, but yes I do think it's trashy doing it around kids. I would never ever curse around my nieces or nephews. Once they're adults, then okay fine.

Someone please explain to me why some words are "bad". Obviously if you direct an insult at someone, that is wrong. I feel like we started with "curse" words and now we are at "words are violence".

Cussing in general is trashy. Sometimes is acceptable but people who do it every other sentence are the worst

If they do something so stupid it gets me to "what the frick are you doing" it was probably appropriate. I don't curse a lot, but occasionally around my oldest son I will, but he a count hair from being an adult.

Cursing is trashy whether it’s around your kids are not.

My parents never cursed around me, but I still swear like a sailor because, despite my upbringing, I am a very, very trashy person irl - no shame in my Game.

Sorry not sorry.

Newsflash.... the world exists outside of your home and they are going to hear it. More than likely its going to be directed at them at some point. At least when they hear it from me they will know how to use it properly

Parents are letting their kids mutilate themselves now and yall are over here worried about words.

My kids live in a nice neighborhood, in a clean house, eat home cooked meals every night, and go to private school. If thats trashy, then frick you for being a judgmental arse

My kids ha always known that there are “camp words” that will not be said at home…in front of mom. There is a time and a place for everything.

Yeah there was a higher standard of public behavior.

And? There’s a lot of stuff I heard/saw as a kid or teenager that I would never want to see from my parents. Conversely, I see a lot of stuff from other people’s kids today that I would never tolerate from my own.
