Is anyone doing a buy back on their flooded car?

If it didn't get that wet and is fine now can you do a buy back to keep the car but still get some cash on it since insurance companies are just totaling them all? Yes I know these cars will be at risk for electrical and transmission problems but some never got over the floor boards and will be worth accepting a few thou for.

As a man that is in the market for a new(er) truck I am honestly afraid to buy right now. Unfortunately no way to know what you are getting right now.

Just get a new ride man. You don't want to deal with the issues that come with a flooded car

Wonder how many people will go to Texas to buy cars there.

I honestly was thinking about doing this, but you know a lot of these cars will end up down there as well.

I want to believe that this should not be a worry when dealing with big dealerships, but the truth is you never know.

I remember it being a nightmare when Katrina hit. I want to say I remember hearing about a lot of forged/incorrect titles.

My buddy is trying to get a new car. I told him the market is going to be dog shite. The dealerships aren't going to move much off price when they have so much demand and those insurance checks.

Yeah, I would just go get another ride. Many years ago had a vehicle where the water got up to the bottom of the car, but not inside it. Nothing but trouble from that point on.

Wouldn't car prices still be much cheaper in TX though?

Since the demand is so high in LA right now with sooo many people needing another vehicle.

I figured this. Looks like I will be sitting tight until November or so.

I doubt it, but it's not the price that I am worried about right now. I feel comfortable saying that some of these buy back/salvaged cars will make their way to Houston and Dallas.

Maybe I am just being paranoid though.

Gotcha. My dad's truck was flooded but it was an older truck(2004 Ram). So you know he won't get a whole lot from insurance for it(and he still owed money on it...he bought it used like 2 years ago).

He's got rental car coverage that will give him a car for a month. Told him to just wait until we get him here to AZ to look for another used car within his budget. No sense in him having to put 1500 miles right away on a used car to drive across the country. Better off paying out of pocket for an extra month for a rental.

By state law, if the ins co totals the vehicle, it must be destroyed. It can not be sold and re-titled again.

There are a shot ton of salvage title cars on the roads across the United States. There is a thriving cottage industry of folks who wish to project affluence on a budget who purchase salvage title luxury cars.

I've bought at least a dozen vehicles in the last ten years and all but one were from Texas. Consistently 5-10% cheaper than Louisiana. These have been new not used vehicles. I don't even look here anymore.

And I had two crew cab 2015 Fords that were under to the windshield and they totaled both. I'll be shopping around Clanton in the next couple weeks.
