That's terrible. This is why I am such a defensive driver and try to stay away from other vehicles on the road. I do not want to die in a car wreck.

Yep. I keep my distance; never pass a truck until the car ahead of me is completely clear and I try to make sure there's an escape route.

There was a previous accident in the area that firefighters were on scene of. A truck pulling a trailor and another sedan crashed. A bus carrying 32 passengers to work in Baton Rouge for flood relief crashed into the scene. Throwing multiple firefighters over the bridge into water below. The bus was leaning onto the bridge railing, MAJOR damage to all vehicles and bus. Most large windows were shattered out of the bus. When the bus leaned onto the railing, a passenger was ejected out of the bus into the water below with the firemen as well. 2 DOAs on scene and 41 patients transported ALL with moderate to severe injuries.

Spatial awareness of drivers... is it just Louisiana?

Its that and when some of these nimrod get on those bridges on I10 it's like they think they are at the Daytona 500, they increase speed to try to get somewhere a few minutes faster.

The worst is between BR and Lafayette. The last time I traveled that bridge, I was doing 75, and I was being passed like I was going slow.

Going 75 in a 60 and you're calling other drivers nimrods.

It doesn't matter what the posted speed limit is. The safest speed to travel is the flowing speed of the surrounding traffic. If you're going 75 in a 60 and being passed like you're going slow, you're a hazard to everyone else and need to speed up to the flow of traffic.

Yep, you're correct. But I was driving a box truck that has speed limiter of 75 mph. I had the pedal to the metal.

And I shouldn't have to go 75 when the speed limit is 60. The other drivers should slow down.
