He now wants a carbon fiber frame for his newer bike(Salsa Horsethief)

I feel like it will be neverending what things he wants for this bike. Everytime it's the same thing "Oh but after I do this, this bike will be perfect".....3 months later he wants a new mod on it

Hey, if that's his main hobby, let the man have that and keep him happy! As you said, perfect leverage for a weekend shopping spree for yourself

Oh I do. I am very supportive of his hobby. When he's had a really stressful week at work I don't push too much to do stuff together weekend mornings cause I know that's usually his only chance to go riding. He's happier and easier to be around when he's able to get riding time in on a regular basis.

Outdoor activities get the endorphin's flowing. I can't be in a bad mood after a good ride or climb. It's just not possible

its not about carbs n shite, it's about your calorie intake.

you have to get your metabolism going, get that fricker working like furnace. Your body will burn calories like crazy.

have breakfast
100calorie snack around 9
lunch something lite/or protein bar
100 calorie snack/some fruit 200pmish
Dinner some chicken with veggies,etc
100calorie type snack at 7-8pm.

Your metabolism will begin to start working more.

While working at chrysler, i got fired for AWOL(i had a call in number, but they made me wait to get my job back, so i was not AWOL). I went through some BS, with family, gfriend, etc because of losing the job at the time and i went from 180ish to 245lb.

After they finally heard my grievance, i got my job back, with back pay, and in 5 months was back to 180ish.

It wasnt about carbs and the gimmicky bullshite people sell you on, it was getting your metabolism to burn calories like a furnace. I could come home from work, eat a meal, go to bed and not put on a pound.

I ate at nearly the same times, every day, with popcorn being my low calorie snack. Every dick and john used to make popcorn, and the plant would smell like burnt popcorn.

For me, i don't think i could put on major pounds, the silly shite we eat, such low calorie counts.(wife is veggie tardlian). So i just add chicken to the shite she makes.

Man, when i was putting on the pounds while being fired, i would eat fast food 4-5 times a day. Sure it was helped by being depressed n shite, but man was it bad. Jack n box was my evil, damn those 2 for 1 tacos!!!

My god you are ignorant. Like a furnace huh?

Right?!?

He gained weight because he stopped working and started eating fast food every day. He lost weight because he went to work and stopped eating 4000 calories a day. None of that other bullshite has anything to do with it.

Burning calories like a furnace priceless

Do your even microbiome...
Lots of hardcore science pointing to this as the frontier of understanding how we look and feel

Quick hitters:

Frequent meals do not boost your metabolism (there is no science supporting this). This is a myth that has been popularized by people with products to sell

The food you do or should not eat (fasting) and restricting carbs (decreasing the effects of insulin) can have profound effects on the way you feel and partition fat.

The foods you should eat (fats /protein) have a profound effect on hormonal regulation of satiety

Micronutrients from greens matter more than most realize (gut microbiome)

Calories do not matter as much (read "Why we get fat" before you attempt to debate me in thermodynamics)

Why we get fat is complete bullshite. You were doing good till the last statement. People do well when focusing on Micronutrients because they end up eating way less.

To be honest for many on here they would be better off just focusing on eating cleaner more natural foods i.e. paleo then counting calories. Problem is most need to learn how much they are actually eating and understand nutrition before moving to aomething like this.

The easieat way to lose weight is to do this

Eat the same way you currently are, but after every bite, put down your fork or food, wipe your mouth, take a sip of water then count to ten, now take your next bite. For moat they will begin to fill full way before they finish forcing them to eat less.

Any specific objections to Taubes points in the book? He makes pretty persuasive arguements against calories in = calories out. I am curious to hear your comments as I respect your opinion.

Below is a blog (dr Peter Attia) that demonstrates how Taubes points can coexist with the laws of thermodynamics (causality is the key point)

Calories are important, but it's not the most important thing. Anyone wanting to lose weight should restrict carbs first while adding high fat and moderate protein to satiate. Down the road, begin looking at restricting calories, adding some lifting, and intermittently fasting.

Yes my objection is total calories are what matter pwriod. The laws are the laws. They cant be broken with the slight exception of full keto and even then the effect is so small it doesnt even matter.

I agree about Micronutrients but 99.9% of people on this board doesnt even know what macro nutrients are much less micro. You have to understand your audience.

And low carb works also but it doesn't teach people shite so they gain it back. You have to teach people to understand labels, portions and what their tdee is before worrying about things like Micronutrients which is for more advanced people who understand what macros are.

Perfect example are people who jump on the paleo band wagon without understanding why they are getting the results they are. They reach goal weight and go back to eating like they used to and boom they are fat again. Happens all the time.

You have to teach and the best way is through if it fits your macros because it forces people to read labels and log their food.

its all about calories. I agree high fat and protein is good but in the end its about calories.

Why the frick does everyone try to make this so complicated and hard. Just lift heavy shite. Eat 500 below maintenance on a 40/40/20 ratio and try and walk more. This is rocket science, jesus christ.
