That's true, for younger people. Older people that still smoke weed typically don't put themselves out there or take pride in being a "stoner." They smoke a joint at night the same as their boss drinks his scotch or whatever.
Yeah, it's part of growing up, but some never get out of it. Obviously there are drinkers who obsess about drinking, but there isn't as much cultural/political baggage to latch onto.

Once state legislators realize how much money is to be made from taxing it weed will be legalized. It will happen much sooner than later.
Hopefully. I also hope they make hemp legal again. That alone could create thousands of new jobs. The fact that hemp has been illegal this whole time shows just how corrupt politicians are.

isn't that the same for alcohol though? you're either drinking for leisure because you want a buzz or to get drunk or you're drinking it because you're an alcoholic and need it to feel normal. you can say you're drinking it because it tastes good, but that's not your only motive whether you admit it or not

I believe it will as far as recreational users go. a lot of them have branded themselves to be part of the legalization movement. it'll eventually become a normal behavior as legalization spreads and people won't be as vocal about it.
I think it'll be like any "declining" movement. Some will assimilate, some will keep fighting/looking for fights. Same can be said for various civil rights causes (gay community currently). I think it is interesting to watch how subcultures adapt to entering the mainstream.

yea we're on the same page there. once there's no longer a need for these groups to advocate for their cause, they'll move on

Those people are pretty easy to spot. They're the ones you don't hire.

How so? Some of the greatest minds in history have been smokers.

Right. I understand that. I was just asking if the difference in being high last night versus being high at work was possible and I was given some answers. The employers willingness to test in that manner would be needed for those wanting to smoke if legalized since marijuana can stay in your system for a long period of time.

No, that's not always the case. My wife will have wine with certain dishes for the taste or a celebratory glass, not the buzz. Now granted probably most do want it for relaxation but believe it nor not, some people drink wine or beer for taste.

some of the smartest and most successful people I know all smoke weed in their downtime.

Close-mindedness breeds ignorance. A company is definitely putting itself at a disadvantage by not hiring someone that smokes weed in their off-time.

I think about 1/4-1/2 the states will legalize it in 2016 and the rest will in 2020.

why would I name people I know IRL who don't post here? I could just make up names for all you know

I buy smart/good/honest folks smoking weed, but I don't know a ton of super productive folks that smoke a lot of weed.
They're probably out there, but I haven't met them.
