he ordered a strainer, too

so labor-100
list price-250
strainer-?

guy quoted me 450, so i dont think he is screwing me

now, other guy talking about the sensor, i dont know. but i do know the start was weak and only getting weaker, so a fuel pump slowly giving out makes sense to me

The fuel pump on these things is a complete assembly, if he's charging you extra for a strainer he's an outright thief.

oh. so he is charging me 100 more than sugarhog...

its not enough for me to make a big fuss over it. im more just ready to get this thing off my hands at this point

No, not $100 more than me, $250 more than me. I would sell you that pump the completely assembly for $150 and $50 labor. $250 total, maybe $300. So that's between $250 and $300 too high.

I dont doubt that you may have a fuel pump going bad causing the slow crank when starting and I dont disagree with being honest. There are honest techs out there , I promise. What Im saying is the car is running , but your problem with selling is the ses light. Its a used car and fuel pump will have to be replaced on any car eventually i.e. leave that to the buyer when it finally goes. However fixing your slow cranking problem isnt likely to sell the car as the ses light will most likely still be on after pump is replaced. Only other thing I can think of is they know the cause of ses light (EVAP system maybe) and they will fix that 60.00 problem without telling you and let you think the expensive fuel pump was the problem. Just looking out man. Good Luck and props to you for being honest

oh sorry you can't read that link cuz it's linked to my shop account with autozone.

E8229 is the part number, go to Autozone's website and punch that number is the search engine and it will bring it up. Seriously you're getting screwed at $500 for that fuel pump. you may not want to hear it, but it's the truth.

i appreciate yall breaking it down for me, but at this point, im not too worried about it. i stand to make a good amount of money from this, so the 450 is unfortunate but it isnt gonna make me lose sleep

Well I can't afford to just throw money away. Plus I hate hearing about dishonest mechanics.

Independent, dad's been open since 1983 so we're good. He's just the old school type mechanic, which just doesn't work with a lot of problems on today's cars.

Yes, Identifix is a great asset. Well worth the monthly fee.
