It is when it's backed up by actual science.

Yes. You have.

But you succeeded in bringing a poli board thread to the OT without much criticism...yet.

Please don't have children if you are going to conditionally love them. We don't need more unwanted children. OK?

Did you read the article you posted?
quote:

Currently, there are numerous possible explanations of the cause of transsexuality, including genetics, brain structure, brain function, and prenatal androgen exposure. Other theories have proposed linking the cause to psychological and behavioral reasons.

I don't really give a shite either way (I was born with a penis that fits OK and my kid isn't a fricking weirdo) but you shouldn't post something without reading it.

if it's genetic then if one identical twin is gay then the other twin is gay, right?

Same hold true for Trans identical twins?

You have been brainwashed by liberalism. These Transgendered people are mentally ill. They live miserable lives and have an extremely high suicide rate.

I would fight it every way possible.

Also, if you have a Dick, you have no business in a Ladies room. It's voyeurism.

Tell them I love them and take them to a therapist and PCP so we could find out what's going on and get professional help. Treatment would depend on what we learn and what my kid decides with the advice of their medical team, but I'd be supportive of that course of action, whether it meant medically transitioning or not.

Would you take your kid to doctors/therapists and get professional opinions before making a decision to fight it? Jumping to a conclusion sounds like a terrible idea to me.

Well, shite...if Wikipedia says it what's the point in arguing I guess.

2 separate studies from 8 years ago, published in Biological Psychology and Sterility and Fertility, found a correlative (you know what that word means, right?) link between a single gene and transgender expression.

Settled science, guys. Let's pack it up!

It's weird that all the accredited medical bodies haven't formed policies in line with these conclusions though. Hmmm.

To answer the OP question...get them help by medical professionals.

More proof of God's mercy that your kids are fine in spite of having a parent that loves them with conditions.

ETA: I'm glad they are fine.

Just to clarify, are you talking about sex reassignment surgery, hormone therapy, or both? I'm asking because a lot of people assume that transitioning = sex reassignment surgery, but that's not always the case.

I don't think I'd be comfortable with my kid getting sex reassignment surgery until adulthood, but I'd be okay with hormone replacement therapy IF that's what the medical team recommended after a period of serious consideration. It's not something I'd agree to right away--that's something you need to be sure about and I'd worry about it being a phase.

A fact conveniently left out by the Left.

Diabetics should just accept it and leave it untreated.

Was Buffalo Bill the pioneer for the transgender movement? He certainly wasn't portrayed as mentally ill at all...

I wouldn't support them pumping their body full of hormones either to change their body chemistry
